View Full Version : My Latest Mods
Well I finally got a Verada Trip computer clock for my TH, easiest mod I've done only one wire to change.
Also put a TL power steering rack and pump in to replace my leaking rack, seems to have a little heavier feel, and feels a little more precise.
Replaced my inner door handles with crome verada ones I like them but my wife doesn't to bad cause they're not coming out.
also replaced the Speedo suround, top vents and the middle section of the console all were marked or broken
and finally fitted my under seat draw, went to put the brackets in and found mine already had them in.
only have to wire in my driving lights and I'm all done.
Also now fitted full electric windows, what a fun job.

How much different is the TL rack? I will be doing this in the coming weeks.

Well the difference between my KH and TL was quite noticeable. It's heavier, and makes you feel more connected to the wheels, and more confident in what the wheels are doing.
Highly recommended

What he said, it's a bitch of a job but seems worth it so far, I had to change the rack anyway so I thought what the hell, I haven't taken it for a long drive yet as I want to get an alignment done first.

It's not a huge mod but it gives you a clock on the trip computer display so instead of just the display in the middle you get a clock on the left and the trip computer on the right.
the only wire to cut is the Green with yellow strip cut it about 4cm before the plug and splice it into the Grey wire but leave the Green Yellow going into the plug thats left over unconnected

is that it, would a TJ be the same, what else is needed?

I think Series 1 would be the same if it had the trip computer is in the centre display as series 2 is in the cluster.
and nothing else is needed

Hey mate just wondering what powersteering belt you used? Mitsu tells me that the belts are different but couldn't tell me which one I would need.

Thought it might be good for everyone to know, I'm sure I'm not gonna be the only one doing the pump upgrade. I did start a PM actually :)

The pumps are pretty much the same I just used the same belt I already had on.
and as far as photo's of my clock mod, I'd have to pull it all apart, sorry but not going to happen

Mate, did you also use the different dash surround so you can set the thing?
Perhaps you need to pop over for a service and set up mine while I service your car lol

To set the clock is easy, set your ignition to Acc. press and hold the left trip computer button for hours and the right for minutes.
this is so cool. doing trip display mod right now.

How much did it cost for the trip unit with the time in the display mate? Also where u manage to find one?
ah sorry, by 'right now' i meant 'i am so doing this right now'... as in, definently going to do it in the near future :P (if the trip computer can be acquired)
I got mine from the wreckers, Jolly Rogers only cost me about $30 I was very lucky
And I also put electric Windows in, so happy no more winders

So you got the electrics working, awsome. Did you change your harness or make your own wiring

I had to get the loom for the right side of the car, what a crap job, Mitsubishi put the loom for the windows down the left but a different loom for the right Ar$e clowns would have saved stuff all but nearly did my head in, once the loom was in and everything plugged in it was pretty straight forward, not fun to do but got there in the end, gave up on the cruise control mod as the wiring is just not there and had a look while at the wreckers and I would need to change the main loom from the fuse box in the engine bay into the car, it I believe is the main loom, everything in the dash area seems to plug in to that, too big a job, I just couldn't be stuffed pulling the dash out again, I'll either consider after market or just give it a miss.

Just an FYI - I had an old TP a few yrs back (it died when I collected a cow on a dark road - thought I was a goner, bjut the ole Magna did a great job killing itself and saving me).
Back to the point - I put an aftermarket Cruise unit on it (shudder - I bought it at Kmart) but it was GREAT. Control on dash looked a little downmarket, but the unit never skipped a beat - same company still making a revised model I have seen in the shops. APS I think it was.
Took a good few hours to fit, but no major dramas - just have to fit a magnet to a drive shaft, and then get a sensor mounted near (but obviously not touching) and so on. Lots of dragging a small loom through firewall etc - but it would be nothing like as bad as trying to retrofit a genuine cruise and master-loom. IMHO.
