Hey all,

I want to replace my brake/tail lights (& Garnish lights) with red LED bulbs.

Anyone got a part or type number for the bayonet-style dual filament bulbs? Or a link to eBay (put it in the thread), I can't seem to find any dual bulbs on eBay.

Cheers!

Edit: I think they are 1157's but I need the dual filament ones.......

BA15D...
They are the ones.
Dual filament (see the two metal contacts at the base?)

Also, if you are buying these for light output do not bother! They are the same brightness as your normal halogen bulb.
Only + I see with these is you never have to replace them

Yeah I use my lights alot, so the bulbs in the back at the moment keep dying and they then mess with my cruise and I have been locked out of the friggin car because the alarm thinks there is someone in there and auto locks the doors (the brake is the trigger to lock them when its running).

I need reliable globes.....

Ok so just searched eBay for BA15D and they all seem to be single filament style with + on one contact on the bottom and - on the other one

just go dick smith or jaycar so you can actually look at and feel the product you are buying, although they may be a tad more expensive you know your getting the right one

They are a pain in the a$$ to get to living out my way and I don't get much time....... eBay is so much more convenient. Something tells me they wont have the stock anyway

How often do you replace your globes?

I use my lights a lot too - have not replaced these in 1 year (plus, however long they were in the car prior to that)....

I think something may not be quite right if your lights keep blowing :)

be careful if the cruise or alarm sytems work on resistance of the filament i the normal globe as a LED has very little current draw or resistance and can fool load sensitive devices like flasher cans etc,so just somehting to look out for!

as for utput and light spread, they in general seem terrible and far below a normal incandecent globe,as a filament will direct light nearly 360 degrees where as a led is extremely directional,i chucked mine out within minuted of fitting as they were bloody dangerous

http://www.ledshoponline.com/automotive_leds.htm (try this mob, they list BA15D,no idea if any good though)

So THAT'S why my Cruise no longer works

I've replaced all my brake lights and indicators with LEDs, and after that my CC wouldn't work. I never linked the two because I didn't think something so minor would cause the CC to stop working.

Is there any way to rectify it?

yep....on the whole led are terrible when they have to shine through colored plastic...

.i did both ind/brake and took them out again because it looked so crap....on the front however they work great....side ind ..great....did the clear ind trick on the front lens and it looks so good..no orange and the white led globe blends in so well with the lens
