hi all has anyone here cut their coils down in order to get a 1-1.5 in drop. If so were there any pitfalls and was it really worth it?Would it be better for me to buy some new lowered coils. BTW im hoping to have 17in rims on it soon would this cause a prob with this much drop. Cheers Shaun

chopping springs isnt a good idea - not only does it stuff your springrate - it also will play havoc with your shocks/bumpstops if they are the standard ones.

reason im saying this is because i did it - and needless to stay i stuffed up a few things costing me more money when i was trying to save it. So just pay for the proper lowered springs dude - it will be worth it in the end. :)

oh btw - its totally ILLEGAL to cut your springs - thought i better mention that. 8)

I doubt anyone on here would recommend it. Its dangerous and illegal.
I'd say you'd be better to save up for a proper lowing kit.

Mate spending 250 on a set of springs will be much cheaper in the long run when you find you've turned your stock shocks to soup in the near future...

I can get you a set of king superlows at the front (60mm) and lows for the rear (40mm) for 240 a set of 4. Trust me this is the way to go, if you or anyway wants a set I can get them for you.

What is the difference, they are still chopped and the spring rate will stuffed.

If you have lowered springs why chop them?

If you still want them lowered get them compressed, this is still illegal however if done by a reputable place will still be a lot safer to do

Well lowered springs are probably stiffer than stock ones so they wont bounce as much and you could probably get it lower?....im basing this on absolutely ZILCH

I'm keen to lower my TP by about that ( 1 to 1.5 inches ) but i had a look through whiteline and king's sites and the only springs and kits are for TE-TJ magnas which sucks the donkeys nuts, does anyone know if you can get just like homebrand heavy duty springs for the TP or something? lowering is great, its the most inexpensive way to make your car look nicer in one afternoon... ok i'll rehash the main points

FIND A LOWERING KIT FOR A TP MAGNA, I PAY MUCHO BILLS (25 to 30mm lower then stock)

i'd prefer a kit hey cause i think my shocks are ****ed cause it doesnt really handle nice and if it does the elante has crap suspension.

Speaking of suspension, i went to see the bronx tonight in the valley and on the way home ( brisbane people might know this ) you go up wickam towards the city and turn right into that little buslane bit and turn right again to go down i dont know what road so your skimming the northern tip of cinatown and that road dips, it goes like hill flat ( for the road into chinatown ) hill and i was going too fast and i bottomed on that road and me and my mate were both like whoa, that no good.. bronx were good fun.

so aussie magna you can get a set of 4 king springs for 240, isnt 60mm at the illegal would cops be able to tell by eye that its a little extra to low. are king springs a quality brand. in about 6 weeks i might buy a set off you if you can get them how much would they be to have installed? would i also need a camber kit what are they worth.
