Hi all
I own a 97 TE 4 cyl magna and am reguarly hearing a loud squeel. I think it might be the alternator belt however it doesnt look very old or worn. Does anyone know how to change this belt or another reason to what this problem could be caused by.
Thanks

I had a problem like this just recenetly. it started when i turned the engine on and progressivly got worse, to the point where everytime i accelerated it would squeel. it was one of the pulleys on the fan belt (one that charged the battery). the nut had fallen off and the pulley was just wigling round on the bolt. The noise im pretty sure comes from rubbing against the metal, as it warps when rotating. so just have a look at idle and at low acceleration what your fan belt is doing. if its not running smoothly then thats ur problem. go down to ur local mechanic asap. cause if it falls off while ur driving it costs $200+ to get one from mitsu. Hope this helps. JM

is it whilst ur changing gear. i have this problem and mits blame this on the fact i have mods done, and when the hi revs change, it can cause it to slip.
