Turned the car on before when i was leaving work and i heard a horrible whirring/clicking noise coming from behind the glove box. Guessing that's where the climate control fan is located?
The noise went away when i increased the fan speed. Set the climate control to Auto, fan speed decreased and the noise stayed away.
Looks like fan is on its way out? Easy or hard to replace? Expensive?

oh, nah if there are leaves in the blower, you can't see them.
the blolwer unit is behind the glove box.
it can happen. leaves and other cra[ get sucked through the intake plenum and into the blower unit.

when i first picked my car up when i brought it, the fan used to make them sorta clicking noises - ended up just being leaves and crud getting in there.
give it a few weeks - leaves will dry up and go brittle, and then disintergrate in the fan part - then youl get more dust in your car :P
you could pull the box out, but a lot of effort just to check for leaves in it...

Same thing with my car, it does go away.
I park under some tree that drops these maple tree looking leaves. One went into the blower unit, crank the fan speed up to full for a few minutes, it breaks up and goes away.
So its easy to fix :-)

Just an update on this for anyone else who hears the same noise
The noise went away after a couple of days
Looks like there must have been some leaves in the blower as someone suggested further up

Mine does it too, at random though. Sometimes it is really irritating and other times I cant even hear it. I think there must be some sort of build up on the fan.
EDIT: WOO!!! 1000 posts
