What do you have yours at?
Opinions?
I guess tyres sizes and wheels sizes would be helpful, as well as suspension status.
Thanks,
Justin
I used to have them at 36 PSI, but with my new Yokohamas, I have them at 40 PSI.
And you?

I have Kumho's which are my second set in 4 years, which I bought from the same tyre dealer. In 12004 they told me 32 psi, and they cost me $105 each. In April this year, I bought exactly the same tyre for $100 and they told me 36 psi. Straight after having them fitted, I almost did a 360dg as it felt there was very little tyre tread on the road and the ride was hard.
After speaking to them about it, they agreed to use 34 psi. They explained that using the higher air pressure reduces the wear on the edge of the tyre.

Edit. Kumho 205/65 15

when I was doing work experience in yr10 I went to a tyre shop and thye told me to always put 40psi in all tyres. But when I eventually started becoming a mechanic they told me only ever put 32-36psi depending on the tyre.
Now on my VRX Im putting 36psi in to the 17's but it annoys me that the fronts always look like they're slumping due to the extra weight. Is it ok to bump them up to 40 and see if gets rid of the squashed look at the bottom?

Tyres: Zeno UHP:P
Size: 235/45/17
Pressure: 48 psi (F) 48 psi (R)
Tyres say no more then 52 PSI so i put them at 48 just to be safe.
Edit: Everyone else is running alot less then me, i feel weird now, should i be running 48? On the tyre it says maximum 52PSI so i just assumed i would go a bit below it and run at 48, i dunno what to think now, tyres feel good as they are, any lower they feel soft and sluggy.

I think 48psi cold is very high for road use.... you wont damage a rim though! haha
Hows the dgrip in the wet? I say drop it to 40...
i keep 40psi front 38psi rear 17' maxxis v1's

40 f 38 r. wouldnt go any less
Road use, 40-42psi. You get better fuel econemy and better initial turn in from a more direct feel.
I have standard rims though, 15" and 205 wide so a high tyre pressure isn't TOO rough.

i also run 40 on fronts and 38 rear on 235/40/R18's
48 maybe a bit much. Think of it like this: redline is what, like 6500rpm? So should you drive at 6000rpm all the time? Bit of a longshot kinda analogy i know lol but i think the point is there

running the stock 16inch Xi Rada mags, with the factory offerings of the Turanza (however its spelt)
run them at 38psi - had them at 40 for a while, but found the ride too harsh around town so dropped it back down.
36 i find too soft for my liking and anything less.. well.. yeah i do like

You might need a wheel allignment and some camber adjustment. Higher will extend the centre tread but your either cornering really fast a lot or have some geometery problems to do really bad wear.

40psi front and back. The recommended pressure on the tyre placard is stupidly low.
I'm usually somewhere around the 38-40PSI mark.

Are you sure you have 235/45R19's? Your speedo would be over 10% out!

I'm with you for the AWD's with factory standard 16inch alloys and 215 60 16 Bridgestone Turanza ER592's 38psi is spot on, 40 is too rough especially on the super smooth nsw roads (read NOT) and 32-35 psi they just don't look right.

:stoopid: My placard says 30-32psi for 14" but the fronts do look a little flat cause of the extra weight...maybe ill pump them up to 34-36..

17" VR-X Rims.
No-Name Tyres (Were already fitted when car was purchased) 235/45/17.
Run approx. 35psi all-round.
1" lowering kit
Ride is a little harsh, especially on the dodgy Mt. Barker roads, front jumps around on bumps a bit, but seems to turn in better (more responsive).

i reckon over 40 maybe excessive. there is such thing as over pressuring...
unless we are towing or carrying ridiculous loads (like buses, 4WD's)...
Good to see that we all care about pressures!!!

I run Bridgestone Turanza ER592. I buy from the local Bridgestone guys and they always recommend 32psi.
I generally put in 36-38psi though as 32 is too soft for my liking.
Running factory 16" rims.

recommended pressures are lower than 'usual' because they have comfort in mind. and probably want you to wear out your tyres just that little more.
does anyone know whether one extreme would grip better than the other?

On the wall of my tires it says maximum PSI 52 so i just run them at 48, i have even wear, my car is comfortable and my tyres dont look over inflated, guess i just got extreme cheap tires:P

40 keeps the wear down, saves a tiny bit of petrol, and still gives performance.
I run 40psi front, 36psi rear, 45psi spare.
The front/rear pressure difference allows for the uneven weight distribution of a front-engine/front-drive car, cutting down understeer (for advanced drivers: helps limit the front slip angles compared with rear).
Without weight on the spare to keep a good seal, putting in extra pressure means a monthly check with usually just a couple of PSI to bring back to 45.

Wheel alignment was checked just recently and was good... rear left was out by a little but not enough to create wear ..besides it's the fronts that are losing shoulders...
I'm pretty hardcore with the cornering though.... owning an Evo does that....
The extra pressure helps with evening out wear.....
