Hey guys, just picked up these on ebay.

Can someone please post me some pics of the exact positioning of the large light unit? Measurements from the windscreen would be really great.
And can someone post me pics of the exact positioning of the rear map lights in the rear 3/4 trims? Again, measurements in from two sides would be great.
Also, can anyone tell me if I can use my existing rear 3/4 trim panels for the rear map lights? That is, can I just use the Dremel to make the right sized holes and clip them in? Or do I need the Verada trims?
Thanks all :)

You could probably just cut into the C pillar trims, but seriously, it'd be so much easier/neater if you went out and found some Verada trims. Why? Simply because they're both the same height/angle/distance from rear
it all adds up...
Whilst you're at it, get a roof lining from the wreckers from a 'rada with the cutout already in it...save yourself time...

the mounting holes are already there just bolt up the bracket and cut the roof lining to suit.

Make sure the bracket is mounted around the right way first, and cut the roof liner after you have aligned the lights themselves.
Just don't make the same mistake I did and mount it backwards, now my map lights face into the back seat. My friends think this is a great idea though, for obvious reasons... lol
True, also take note that the standard executive interior light brackets do NOT fit with these larger SE/Verada lights.

* 3rd gen only * Pull off your headliner, on the front between the visors you will see 4 screw hole punches, screw the bracket in to there, if you do not have the bracket you will have to get it from a wreckers. Cut a hole in the headliner accordingly.
I have a KJ headliner and did not need to cut a hole. Thats how I know how to mount these things :)

Same applys for 2nd gen.
but with mine i removed the sunvisors too.
I shoved the bracket in the roof lining then measured with a tape measure the distance from start of roof lining to bracket, transferred that measurement to the outside of the liner, made a hole, and from there you chop off more and more bit by bit until it fits perfectly.

The 2nd gens have them mounted in the middle of the headliner though don't they?

I should mention i'm referring to the very centre light, not the smaller rear map lights (in which case i'd have fitted them correctly).
I noticed Schnell's centre light comes with the required mounting bracket anyway so I changed my post. For future reference though (should someone find this via search) the standard executive bracket for the centre light doesn't work with the larger SE lights.

No need to pull-off the head liner, just cut the headliner on the hump area (not too big) and you will see the wires, then tap the wirings. Insert the bracket in the hole you cut and screw, then map light and you're done.
For the rear lights, a paper template of the C pillar (with cut-out hole for the light) works very well. :D

With those rear lights, my KF Ei only has one on the right hand side. Is this right? Did some later Veradas come with them on both the left and right?

Thanks mate.
Hey one thing I forgot to ask you all, do I tap the rear map light wiring into the main roof light or are they powered from somewhere else??

I used the boot light wires (constant 12v).

Should be on both sides, your car is odd lol
I can provide photos tomorrow if it's going to help anything :)

well the kj lights (all) come on when a door is open, but pressing the button keeps it on permanently, so guess theyre almost wired off both?
they also dim slowly when turning off

So there are 3 wires for each rear map light. Being a beginner at the whole elctrical thing, I am assuming they are pois, neg, earth?? If that's the case, and I use the boot light loom for pos and neg, where do you run the earths to?

One is earth, one is +ve for when door is open and one is switched +ve when you press the switch to turn it on.

What's the best way to pull off the trim to see if there is the wiring for the lamps behind it?

Now here' an interesting thing. Because wreckers want stupid money for crappy condition trims, I ordered 2 X 3/4 trims from my dealer. Interesting that the LH one has the cutout for the light and RH one doesn't. And these were ordered of a TJ VIN number. So Ace, there is clearly either a difference in number of rear lighst between the two levels of Verada spec or there was some running change that deleted one of the lights....

I had a look behind the trim yesterday, the cutout in the metal is there, but I couldn't locate any wiring for it.
The car is (was) completely bog standard when I got it, and there were no signs of anything being removed, so it seems that some models came with them on both sides, and some didn't.
Anyone else with a KF care to confirm/deny?
