Anyone have the engine code for the import diamante's that came with the quadcam engines.
Not the engine number but what they are labeled as.
Anyone have a price for one aswell?

For the 6g74 Quadcam or DOHC you can either track down a Mivec motor or attempt putting a set of heads from a Pajero on. Mivec motors range anywhere from 5k+ for a longblock from the states.
Pajero heads on the other hand will set you back <1k but there is a bit of fiddling with it as you need to put in coilpacks, the exhaust and lower manifolds are different, among other things.

They are a 6G74, just like the SOHC e/w and the SOHC and DOHC n/s motors. COnfuzzled?

Found the engine but might not be easy to get one unless someone knows were they are.
Its the Mitsubishi 6G72 3Litre Mivec V6.They came out in the 95 Diamante's in Japan but only lasted till 97 due to being replaced by a cleaner engine.
199kW's,pretty good with no mods done!
If anyone know's were to find them for sale or has a price, drop me a line!

Any aftermarket ECU should be able to run a VVT system, mine does.
There is a guy putting the MIVEC heads on a 3.5L in the US and its TT!!

It would be an awesome engine especially the fact of it being more bang for your buck, add up the cost of what it takes to get a 3.5 up to 200kW's and you'll see how close the price is to just getting a new engine.
Might be cheaper or you might come out even but i know i would rather put a turbo/supercharger on the 6g72 than a 6g74 cause of the fact you are gaining the extra power but in saying that,it would be easier to get a galant twin turbo engine if you chose the turbo option but for a N/A project,go the 6g72 without a doubt.

Why on a 6g72 though, yes they do rev a lot better then the 3.5 but downside is the bottom end isnt as strong with only 2 bolt mains. As for the 6a13 Conversion there is a few getting around and unless you do the spanner work yourself you are looking at around 10k for the conversion by the time you get the bits + FTO box and custom flywheel and bellhousing etc, and the labour to get it put in. Also that 200kw figure would be at the Fly so its around 155-170 atw, which is easily achieved with a manual 3.5 with a cam upgrade, headwork, piggyback, manifold and a full zorst.

You will most likely find the 95 model was for the first gen Diamante or Second Gen TS as we have here.
Will be interesting to find a DOHC for a third gen there are a few about but as rare as hens teeth

True to that!
Will do more fine tune research but i agree with magna00 as it would be lots easier to stay with what i got and just make it run better.
I only have the 3.5 Tiptronic 4 speed but if i do somethin like manifold, chip and throttle body, maybe i can make it run as good or better by putting a quick shift kit and keep the factory tippy surround and gear knob.

you can get a 6G72 mivec the right way round for the 3rd gen. AFAIK there were a couple in Aus. Also, i think the GDI was a 6G74. Is this correct?

They brought the GDI out to replace the 6g72 because of polution and the motor didnt have as much power, lost like 50kW's!
The 199kW 6g72 only went for 2 years but packed a punch as the toyota aurions have only caught up to that now and the engine was made in end of 95!
