DMS 50mm - 550lb front and 500lb rear - the recommended setup for the kind of racing we are doing.

Will be fitting them up tonight, alignment etc. on friday then hillclimb on sunday :)

They look a fair bit more sturdy than the hotbits. Hope they work well for you.

EVO 8 with some custom brackets to fit the rears. All the strut tops fit straight up from the magna.

Good **** Dan, how much did you end up paying for the DMS gear (PM me if you want)? Not long ago DMS were selling evo gear at a massive discount, clearing old stock..I had a feeling evo stuff might fit our magnas with minimal modification, but I wasn't willing to play guinea pig with that kind of money that's for sure.

What kind of racing are you doing with those rates? Dutton? If so, I would have thought you wanto run a fairly soft setup for road rallies (Note I don't know all that much about the event). I remember when I told you the rates I wanted to run in my setup, you reckoned it would be way too high without chassis bracing, yet you are now going for even higher rates:P

Be interesting to see how much quicker that setup is around Wakefield than your previous koni setup.

Will you be runnin these on the road, or a race-only application? I ended up sticking with 400lbs front 350lbs rear, let's hope it's as tolerable on the road as I'm hoping.

My Bilstein setup will be finished tomorow or Friday, I'm gonna hit Wakefield next week or the week after...interested in coming out?

I'll be very interested to see as well!

It will be for duttons, there isn't any timed road sections, just short events at airport/wakefield/fairburn hillclimb/skidpan/oran park.

It will be mainly a race setup, with occasional drives to work, roads are reasonable where i go.

Re. the bracing, I’m running front and rear strut braces and have reinforced the rear crossmember. If I end up thinking it is necessary I’ll look at making an under car brace for the front end.

We may come out to wakefied on Tuesday next week to get a good feel for the new setup.

The sale dms had was mostly repaired units and didn’t have much left when I was looking.

Yeah the Whiteline front strut brace doesn't fit with the Sprintex, I'm hoping someone in Sydney can make one that does, any ideas? How did you reinforce the rear crossmember? Did youy do it yourself, or have some help? If you are making a brace and interested in making a another for me, please let me know :)

Where did you get the rear strut brace from? Although as I have a sub in my boot when on the road, I doubt I'd want one anyway. Although I'd consider bolting on one for track outings if it seems worthwhile.

If you decide are going to Wakefield on Tuesday, let me know ASAP, I might come out as well - also Rob (Ar3nbe) might as well.

With your strut brace, get a Nolathane one, and redrill the holes on it so that the brace is at the back rather then the front as it is normally, it will then clear the sprintex.

Edit: also with the rear, since the strut tops are just behind the seat, how are you going to go by this obstacle? or are you going to do the X shape in the boot style?

Dan's rear brace is totally custom. I'll let him go into details if he wants, but I'm 99.999% certain he won't do another one. and if he does, I'm first on the list :P

cheers,

Will let you know Andy!

The rear brace is a High tensile tube with ends shaped and welded near the top of the towers in the rear. Was going to add a removable X section as well but haven’t got around to it. If I do make them I’ll make a few up!

I just cleaned up and re-welded the dodgy factory welding on the crossmember and added some extra plate in some areas that were flexing.

Mmmmm nice set of coilovers, pity there out of my price range, but what are you going to do with the camber strut tops as the coilovers you have now come with them.
You going to sell them? and how much?
Still interested in getting a set as I'll be keeping with my current suspension for quite time.

Also good luck in the upcoming Rally

All fitted up ready for a wheel alignment...WOW! Just did my normal Lateral G test roundabout (with r-comp tyres), old suspension: 0.88G new suspension: 1.09G A very noticeable improvement. Sits much flatter, is much more responsive to steering and throttle inputs and even handles the bumps nicely!

dan, are there any plans to put some more horsepower through your car at a later stage? I mean the car is going to handle as good as any of the opposition in the dutton but still just the ol' 140kw atw's

Agreed, with crap suspension IMO extra power doesn't help much in lap times (In fact first time out with the Sprintex I went SLOWER than I had when NA and open diff lol - inexperience + more power just means more mistakes.

But with a sorted chassis/suspension setup I'm sure you could definantely make good use of some more power (up a point anyway). Those stiff rear rates in particular should make a huge difference in corner-exit traction.

I hope for the day a few of us are beaking into 1:10s or lower...methinks your car as is with the new DMS setup could possibly already get there, or close to it. A couple of magnas near the top of a timesheet would be hilarious.

Btw iif you don't mind sharing, what ride heights and geometry setings are you using as a starting point? PM me if you wanto keep it it private. I'm really itching to get out to Wakefield with my new setup, should be on the road by Monday!

what fabrication was required to fit the rears?
