I am still running on the factory shocks (and kings lows)and would like to upgrade. After researching i couldn't come up with a definitive reason for going one way or the other. So i thought maybe a poll would help my decision.
I am not tracking my car so would not think to go with adjustables(or should I?) So what have you guys got and are you happy, and are they better than another if you have had more than one type?
thanks

I got sports ryder shocks, i sit slightly higher then i used to but the car drives really smoothly and the car isnt such boat any more, as my last shock s sagged a bit.

Comes down to cash really, Koni's are by far superior because of the valving and also the ability of being adjustable, gabriel/KYB are around the same sort of money and monroe being a bit more.
Ive driven a magna with koni reds before (test drove a ralliart once) and handled well, was taunt across bumps and potholes and felt stable at 110k's. Ive got a set of reds here that i will be installing in the next couple of days.
I have KYB's atm and they are great as well, only upgrading because i can :D

I am no tracking my car
Did you mean to say you aren't tracking your car?
IMO if you enjoy regularly fanging it around some twisties, the konis are still worthwhile. But it comes down to how much you wanto spend. I assume you're keeping the King Lows?
IMO out of the budget stuff the KYBs are easily the best. They are pretty good with low-speed bumps for day-o-day driving. On the track they are pretty good for what they are, but the konis are in a compltely different league.
In short:
If you just cruise around the KYBs will do you fine. If you enjoy pushing it around some twisties regularly and/or intend to track the car, the konis are worth the extra cost IMO.
But to be honest IMO the rebound adjustment is a bit of a wank to me, unless the shocks are on a shock dyno you don't really know they are doing with each adjustment. Plus people tend to max out the rebound because it feels "stiff", but that actually overpowers the springs and makes it handle poorly.

hehe yep...fixed. o.k. are there non adjustable Konis or are they all like that. i CBF changing them at any point, so dont see the need to spend extra to do it.

i forgot about these. I am interested to hear more about them.

The koni reds as used in the ralliart are not available off-the-shelf, only the koni yellows are. They are externally rebound-adjustable.

I've got KYB's with King springs and they are very good for what they are. I've found them to good when doing a little bit of fanging in the twisties, driving down to Melbourne from Townsville proved to be more comfortable than I expected, even on the inland roads, and fanging up and down Lake Mountain in Vic throught the twisties I felt very confident with the shocks, but I didn't push it.
In the end it's what you decide for what you need and for value the money I chose the KYB's

I've got KYBs and I'm quite happy with them.
I was talking to el3ment about springs/shocks before I upgraded... he said he lowered his car on the stock shocks, then changed the shocks to KYBs. He said it noticably improved handling.
They wouldn't be as good as the Konis, but I imagine you'd still be quite happy with them.

id go the kyb's this time and then if they don't suit up grade to koni's later.. the kybs are going to feel much better than stock shocks anyway....

Comes down to budget really, I guess.
I'm running KYBs in the wagon & was happy with them till I put Koni Reds in the AWD.
If you've got the $$ go the Konis, if not the KYBs. Have you considered Boges? Similar price to the KYBs but seem to handle a little better.

From memory, the KYB's are around the $400 mark whereas the Konis will be closer to the $1,000 mark.

Yep, KYB excel G's are around 120 each for the front and 80ish each for the rear
Koni Yellows are 850 for 4 (from Phillcomm) you will also need standard shocks as you need to strip them out to fit the koni yellows as they are inserts.
