I was going to a import a nice head unit for the 380. But it looks like my old Pioneer in the TW is dying. And with the startling performance of the aussie dollar I might have to get a locally supported unit.

I know Sony have a similar unit for the same price. But the Pioneer's worlk great with nokia. And I hate Sony

Anyway WOW sight and sound have DEH-P7050BT (http://www.pioneer.com.au/Products/Car%20Entertainment/CD%20DVD%20Players/DEH%20P7050BT.aspx)'s for $369.00 and I was wondering how people have found the Pioneers of late.

Have the same H/U as shayne, thought from previous posts, my model is the year before his (his has a new facelift and 1 extra feature IIRC).

Personally, I think they are quite damn good units, have good pre-outs (4.5V), and have the AUX In, Ipod connection, blue tooth, they might look plain to some (as shayne mentioned, blue black background).

Clarion make a nice H/U now for $500 - with time alignment......have a look around :)

You can change the headunit from changing colour in the functions setup when the headunit is switched off.

Turn the unit off and hold in the function button for a few seconds. I think its called Reverse mode and switch it off!

And i also have a pioneer headunit with an added Bluetooth unit. Works a treat! I love it!

Currently i love my AVH-P5950DVD (http://www.pioneer.com.au/Products/Car%20Entertainment/Visual%20Audio/AVH%20P5950DVD.aspx), once i get the right bits happening it will do everything i want it too. and it plays DivX

I dont think I need the complete dash kit, I have single stacker, so my surround accomodates a double Din unit.

And I would always my gear from you guys down there, of all the customer service i've seen around town, you guys are consistently professessional.

JVC, Alpine, & Pioneer all offer fantastic head units, also it's good to buy from Australian suppliers as that helps the australian economy.
Perhpas look at the JVC KD-BT22 (http://www.jvc-australia.com/JVC/client/c_products_details.jsp?catID=27&prodID=364).
It has a rear USB (rather than in the front) so you can run the cable anywhere in your car, that way you don't have a stupid looking USB dongle sitting out the front of your head unit. I have mine in my glove box.
Or if you want to spend a bit more and go all out, have a look at the KD-AVX44 (http://www.jvc-australia.com/JVC/client/c_products_details.jsp?catID=28&prodID=369)

Yeah I had a look at the 22, it looks ordinary and plain on the website, but much better in real life. Probably not a bad choice for a TW. The black Pioneers will look so sweet in a 380.
The thing about the pioneer is they have enough 5 volt oomph to get a usb hard drive spinning and the bluetooth works very well with the nokia.

As for the alpines, nice gear but not in my price bracket for the features I want.

Went for the Pioneer. I soldered the plug up to a Aerpro Magna adaptor that I already had, ran the Microphone, Have the USB and 3.5 mm coming out of the console above the drink holders.
Used the amp wire to operate the the aerial. Thats the red switch that needs a twist.
They sit behind a TL/TW console great because of the flat outer fascia plate on the H/U.
Bluetoooth works beautifully with a nokia, its weird seeing your freinds names stored in the H/U.
The H/U as phone is clearer than the hands free on my Nokia 6300.
