i have just bought a KJ verada and I want to chuck a sub in there and replace the headunit. i'm happy to leave the stock speakers for now (on a budget :(.

I haven't really looked at car audio gear for a while

RE: sub i listen to a lot of dance music so it needs to be punchy down low but it doesn't need to shatter people's windows or anything.

RE: headunit just a basic model with USB I guess.

what brands should I look at? what should I expect to pay?

Also re: install, should I attempt it myself or pay a professional to do it? I like the idea of having someone who knows what they are doing install it, but if it's not gonna be that hard then maybe i'll give it a shot.

cheers!

alpine, jvc, eclipse
theres a few good ones out there but it all depends on budget
also make sure you get one with 3 pre-outs
decks are fairly easy to install, you could have a crack yourself always pay a pro

Budget decks with USB are around $250, offer decent features, and should keep you relatively happy.

Subs?

Buy a sub/amp combo - Vibe Active EVO 10" sub/enclosure/amp is around $464AUD Incl GST....

The EVO 12" is around $100 more....probably the best deal you can find :)

As far as the install goes - there's lots of info on here as to pulling your dash apart (and hopefully, putting it back together again lol) that requires minimal tools.

Installing the H/U is rather easy once the dash is out, especially if you get a adapter harness ($15) takes about 15minutes and some basic soldering skills :)
