I was thinking of getting a TJ wing for my TL some time in the future and was wondering what people thought?
Also, Where would i be able to get one and how much? Would a self install be easy enough?

Um... Which TJ wing... There are a few.
Self install is only recommended if you have reasonably good spatial awareness, common sense and skill with power tools.

The VR X wing, sorry, should of specified that.

Does anyone think it would look good on the TL?

There's a black KL Rada up here with a Ralliart wing and Don't really like it, doesn't really gel with the front.
There is also a white KL like mine with a VRX wing and looks heaps better.

Errrr No..
Lots of members actually de-wing their car for the clean look.
I think a Ralliart wing should stay with the ralliart.

If you must

And dont forget the springs for the heavier boot as well.

I was thinking about de-winging it, but wanna at least get some nice rims first, stock 15's are pretty boring. I didn't want the ralli-art one, just the VRX one.

If i do end up de-winging it, what will that do to the rear suspension? I want to get it lowered but dont know when i will be able to. Rims first lol.

taking the spoiler off and leaving the stock suspension will mean you have less rear downforce, so you might struggle a little for traction. It will also stuff up your rear suspensions general dynamics due to the less weight and different weight balance. Definately goto pedders or something and get a suspension tuneup

probably only about $100 much worth it to decrease the tyre wear on the car! My mate had it on his TE his tyres ran out in about 2000 k's due to the decrease in downforce

But the spoiler really only comes into use at higerspeeds, unless your gunna be really fly the spoiler is just for s**ts and giggles. So taking the spoiler off isn't really gunna affect the rear suspension unless you decide you average speed is gunna be around the 180 mark....

Agree'd, besides all the magna spoilers excluding VRX and Ralliart aren't really creating downforce, they are sitting too low to make a difference.

Have a TJ VRX wing on my girlfriends TL, I think it looks ok.

Ahahaha - wait, you're serious right?
*sigh*
Aerodynamics only become an issue at 80km/h, im yet to see a Magna breaking traction in 3rd........furthermore - the chances that these wings do anything more other than stroke your ah, ego, is yet to be proven through wind tunnel testing results.......more often than not, these wings actually hamper performance as they add to the drag of a car, without actually adding any useful downforce.
Now, as there is less rear weight on the back, traction would actually be increased at the front, being you know, a front wheel drive car. However, the weight of the spoiler compared to the weight of the car is rather redundant. Its like saying, make sure you tune your suspension if you have some eggs, milk, and a bottle of coke in the boot......
But anyway - yes, do get a suspension tune up if you ever have shopping in the boot.

oh, i personally think the TJ wings are alot sharper in design to the TL's smooth flowing body shape. I personally thing a TL without a wing looks hot as.
take your time, plan everthing you wanna do, and do it in an order. no point getting a big spoiler on a stock car - but that is my view...go the rims, then the lowering, then tint - then start messing around with the body - ie grilles, parras, bodykits, wings...etc

i didnt know everything, but seriously, removing a spoiler and it doing anything to your rear suspension, pretty obvious i would have thought

If only the forum had an inbuilt sarcasm meter that changed the color of the post according to the amount of sarcasm involved. :(

Don't let others decide your mods for you, your young and easily impressionable, do what you like but take advice of others and make your own descision.

Only just starting out in the 'own-ya-own-car' world myself, it's hard to know what looks nice, what looks hot and what just makes the car look cheap.
I'm guessing we will all make mistakes - just hope we learn from them.
As for the VRX wing on the TL, looking at that Black one posted earlier - it looks good. Suits the car just as well as the TJ.

Has anyone tried a tail lip spoiler for the TL's?
I think something like a mercedes or bmw style lip spoiler would look sweet on a TL.
Try getting a rubber or plastic one off ebay and modify it to fit, they are onlt double sided taped on.
Would look the goods cause i wanna find one for my verada!

do 3rd gen wings fit on 2nd gen rears?
I want a wing on mine, because I dont like de-winged tails of 2g's, but want something a bit different and bigger maybe to just a normal 2nd gen one
was gonna get an evo III or something but decided against it, and dont want to copy pual too much

limo style boomerang? That way you can get TV reception too.
As for TJ vrx wing a TL, no way, do not like it at all. There was a black TL or KL with a ralliart wing on it that looks pretty sweet.
I was totally against wings on TL's but if I had my nuts in a vice and the only thing that would save them was to wing my car it would be a ralliart one that went on.

the TL has great flowing lines and i think a shortened drift style wing would look awesome...like a little kick up off the rear!!
