Hello fellow Magna brethren,

Let me just say I'm very excite to be here, I have had 4 Magnas to date, 3 TPs and 1 TR...

My current TP is using in the order of 15 litres per 100kms of mainly highway Kms with light city driving.....

It's an unmolested GLX manual sedan, the lightest Magna to have! I have pulled the spark plugs and they have a nice grey burn colour on all plugs...

I have taken the Mikuni (?) carby off and have given it a clean, however I didn't get into the float chamber and jet chambers due to not have a carby kit to replace gaskets etc with....

All service items have been done eg Air filter, fuel filter etc, tyre pressures are correct blah blah..

Any ideas why the consumption is this bad? I would expect 10-11 litres per 100km the way I drive on the highway, does anyone with a carby have any figures they can share?

Thank you friends :D

It's not great but its a carby Astron, given its age I reakon you might get an increase of 2l/100km.

I once had a TP efi that would get 20+l/100km. it was an auto but damn that thing would launch to 160 on the highway. overdrive seemed too tall to see about getting it off the tacho.

What are peoples opinions on checking valve lash/adjustment? My mate had this done to his VW couple of months back got 5l/100km.

i drive a tj at 9.4-9.8 depending on traffic. thats all city kms.

how your's uses 50% more fuel than mine, i dont know. but thats got to be costing you a bit if you're highway driving! even if you do 50ks a day, thats about $10 of petrol per day. wow
