View Full Version : tyre questions
hey guys, i got some new rims, and they have a different size tyre.
on the door of my magna wagon
it says
175/75 14
195/65 14
and 195/60 15
i had the original alloys on there with the 195/60 15
the rims i just got are 15's, they fit with no rubbing or anything, but the tyres on them are 185/65 15
does it make a huge difference that they are a lil narrower and have slighty different aspect ratio?
i did a search and couldnt really find anything, so your help is appreciated

the magna came out with std 14 inch
the elite rims are 15s
the tyres you have will do the job
ya my wagon is the elite version, which would be why it had original 15 alloys on it.
i do have another question, i know i dont have to have the same tire as a spare, ( at least i don't think so in victoria)
but i was wondering if any one knew where i could get one kumho powermax 769
185/65/ R15
thats what the rest of my tires are, and i've looked at kumho website and called a few places and they don't make that model anymore.
thanks for all your help

if they don't make the size
you could try second hand tyre fitters or wreckers
i don't suppose anyone has one with a bit of tread lying around, in their garage or something?
let me know
thanks

I dont have any of these, I do have a set of 14" stockies. 2 of them have bob jane all rounders, done about 5000ks each, and theres a bridgestone, and a kumho or something for the other 2. The bridgestones in OK nick, but the other one is pretty shot :doubt:
Not that you'd be interested in these? Esp with shipping costs aswell lol

How much do you want for the 2 stockies with the all rounders? I need a couple of 14 inchers for my car....

IF you have 15" wheels, use 15" spare because if you put one of these on the front you diff will go ni night if it is there too long
If you go 15" you shold ideally go slightly lower profile to ensure that the rolling diameter is the same.
What rim width are these new ones, make sure you do not go too wide on the tyre as the side walls will flex too much and will make it handle too badly
i do have a 15 inch spare, buts its not the same tyre, its a goodyear and slightly different size 195/65/R15 where the others are 185/65.
but anytime i need a spare i hopefully wont be leaving it on for ages.
i have my original mitsubishi magna elite rims for sale if anyone would like to buy them, theyre all in pretty good nick and have a decent amount of tread left.
as im new i can't post a for sale on here, but ive put them up on gumtree if you want to have a look.

The 185/65R15 tyres is only 6mm bigger in diameter than the 195/60R15. That is a 1% increase. No big deal. If the speedo indicates 60, you'll actually be doing 60.6. That is if your speedo is accurate.
