Hi all

I'm currently in negotiations with a wreckers and he has a front quarter panel which is primed and ready for paint for 170 bucks

Is this a decent price? Also how much would it cost to get painted dark green roughly?

Also in regards to fitment, someone ran into my old one, will this be a direct replacement or would the accident have caused damage to the parts I would usually secure this to?

Cheers

I would say the price sounds fair, all you got to do is paint and stick it on.

As for damage, who knows, we need a pic of the damage to be more certain.

I'll try and get a picture by tonight then, the hit just bent my front quarter panel in and also took a little bit of the bumper with it

Paint would be around 80-100?

Painting it yourself or getting a spray shop to do it? Expect it to be more like $150-200 for a single panel if a shop is doing the spraying.

150-200? I think that's rather steep...

I got a guy to come spray my bumper bar and remove dents/scratches for around 150 so you'd think this would be cheaper

i would be thinking somewhere around 200ish
EDIT - ok, my thinking wasnt the closet - i do quotes all day long, you would think i would know these thigns!!!!
3.5hrs to paint the guard - prolly less as its allready primed @ 57$/hr
single panel allowance of 1hr (its a ploy to get more money out of you)
2.7hrs or less to fit it for ya - at about 35an hour

*gets calculator out *
RR = 94.5
M1 = 256.5
total = $351.00 (at most)
then you have to allow for mix and match (0.4hr) and booth allowance (0.5hr) on top too - but you may get lucky and not have to pay that.
thats prolly how much we would charge you for it - if you came to us, i could get it done for about 200cash i guess for ya.
(the above is not a firm quote, and should not be seen as one - its merely an rough estimate)

iv prolly allowed too much on the painting side of things, but will give you an idea of it all.

Dammit, come down to VIC!

Yes the person bailed, karma! Prices seem reasonable, I know a guy in the business, I could do fitting myself though

$170 for a guard is a bit steep. Why is it primed? has it been damaged and repaired before? by the wrecker? if so does he know what he's doing? Your better of buying a second hand guard with the original paint on it. it might have a few marks but at least you will know there are no nasty surprises underneath the paint. if you getting it sprayed proffesionally anyway then the painter can fix it up before painting (most painters prefer to do their own prep work).
Keep in mind that your newly painted guard will look different to your door/bar/bonnet unless you get the adjoining panels blended. If you want it to look good, you can probably get away with just blending the door as the bonnet edge is on a slightyly different angle and bars are always a different colour anyway. You should pay about $250-$300 to paint the guard, double that if you blend the door.

I got a new quote for 100 used or 190 new

However, I know a panel beater that reckons it would be easier to just beat the dent out, so we're going for that option

Blending of the guards would of cost a fortune, cheaper this way
