View Full Version : Resetting ECU after changing oxygen sensor?
So, was wondering if you had to reset the ECU after changing the oxy sensor?
Definatly not.
The Magna ECU has no long term trim, and even if it did, the new o2 sensor would correct it over a very short amount of time.
Congrats on replacing the o2 sensor though, they are a servicable item every 100,000km but no one tends to do it.

Where did you get the oxygen sensor and how much did it cost?
Phil
I can get a price next time I am at a service shop. They are roughly $70-$90 dollars. Being a heated item they are a little more expencive than your single wire $50 jobby. You can get generic 4 wire items for under $60, but have to do some cutting/soldering which requires a pin out or detailed knowledge of the unit itself.

Any difference in engine ride and consumption?
Any difference in engine ride and consumption?
Couldn't really tell a difference in the engine ride. But as for consumption, sadly there was no difference at all, that's why I was wondering whether or not I had to reset the ECU, as I was thinking it needed to get updated with the new sensor and all.
Consumption is still up there in the 19-20L/100km range. I only get 340-350 out of a full tank.
Don't know what else to do with regards to trying to lower my fuel consumption. The only other thing I can think of is getting my injectors ultrasonically cleaned??

If the ECU has logged an error code and was in limp mode etc, you would need to reset the ECU I'd say. Will clear the codes at least, so will help future diagnosis.
That fuel consumption is staggering  Is your car a taxi??

I want to give it a go too changing my O2 sensor in the AWD.
I have had it put on gas and i was getting an average of 13-14l per 100k's which was about the same as petrol around town but it has recentlty blown out to around 19-20L per 100k's on gas.
