I was pricing up stuff for my TL today, and ran into someone that seemed to know a bit about magnas. He Told me a few things about my car that im not sure of.

1. - Did all the TL's have the 3.8L engines from the start.

2. - He also told me the TL auto (well, all TL's) have LSD's. Yay or Nay? (Is there anyway to check if i do have it?)

3. - He told me i could get a front cut with Engine, Gearbox and ECU that would bolt straight into my magna, for 2grand about including install for me.

I'm not sure about any of these. He could have just been telling me all this stuff because it was fairly obvious i didnt know. I may sound like a newbie, but i just wanna make sure im not being fed bs.

The front cut was for a manual conversion.

Can you tell us where this guy was so we can avoid him.

mate only the 380 came with the 3.8l Tl 3.5

Open diff only but you can find LSD for them, some members here have them.

And he is pulling your chain about the front cut.

Best thing is if your unsure about stuff concerning cars its best to take someone you know and trust or do what your doing and asking advice.

Open diff for all autos with exception of rear diff in AWD.

No point getting a Quaffe unless you are pushing decent power/tracking the car, no point spending 3k on this sort of thing.

Same guy who told me that the rough idle on the wifes XR6T was a bad plug lead as the heat gets to the leads and breaks them down - any one worth it in the brains dept who works in an auto parts store knows that the BA's on are a coil on plug set up
Needles to say I did not buy the new plugs there

My mate wanted to order a HKS BOV for his WRX and the guy laughed in his face. Spun some crap like these are so rare unless you actually go to japan to buy one you wont ever get one anywhere else

Haha I'm not, and once i get it looking nicer it'll beat them in the "Sex on Wheels" dept. too. And who knows maybe one day i'll supercharge my beast. haha

for the first time today i had a somebody tell me how good my magna is. he was a mechanic and he got talking about how the engine is pretty strong (apart from the pistons) and then started getting technical after that so i just pretended to understand.

i also love it when commos and falcoons try and drag and end up losing. I don't think they ever expect it from a magna.

Some of the things I have been told at crappbahn sometimes amazes me. One Sunday I was stuck for a welsch plug for my TF. I went down thre needing a particular size and of course they did not have the size I needed. Was ok as I knew the imperial equivalent. First they tried to tell me my warranty would be void on the car, I was like WTF the car is 10 years old. He then told me that as the car us metric that I need the metric welsch plug and started raving about coolants etc.

I just told him to give be the damn thing and left.....
