Hello Everyone,

Iam looking to change the standard yellow light in the dash to red LED.

as iam very new to this LED concept i have no idea and have done some searching but i havent really found any obvious answers...

firstly, will TH models already have LED? so its just a simple swap with red LED, or is it a globe and some sort of conversion to LED is needed?

what LED type will i need for the 'shine down on instrument cluster' LED's.. T10? T5? i assume i only need to replace the light that shines onto the instrument cluster rather than the lights behind the instrument cluster?

any directions on how this process can be done for someone who has no idea! pictures would be helpful also!

cheers.

4 T10's for the main gauges, and a pile of little ones (not sure on size), for the indicators etc. yeah you need to replace the ones behind the dash cluster (not sure what the 'shine down' lights even are?)

whether they are globe or LED (will be globe), its just plug and play to change to LED.

Hey mate,

from memory, im pretty sure the 3rd gens do not have a light shining onto the instrument cluster, there are only from the inside. I think anyway, someone can confirm that

Best thing to do is to take the cluster out, check out exactly what bulbs are currently in there. The standard lights are just regular bulbs, but if you get the right LED with a t5 or t10 connection, it's a straight swap.

Once you have the new LED's in, you might find that the light from them is un even, this is because LED's do not disperse light around evenly, they are very directional. Some LED's come with a plastic dispersing fitting that refracts the light. But they don't always do an awesome job.

Taking the cluster out is easy, if you don't already know how to do that, just ask and one of us will explain

a few people have done this before.. looks good, red will look great

your better off getting bulb covers, that fit over the existing globe.
some one who has pulled apart a sports cluster might know?

I'm pretty sure once you pull the cluster out, there are 4 x T10 wedge bulbs behind it that can be accessed easily.
