Hi,
i had a bingle today, it contained 4 cars.
this car

ran into all these cars

this is how my car ended up, the best off out of the lot, the towbar took all the force.

Pretty much all i have is a line of scuff marks across the bar, stuff that can be buffed out.
Now, the question is: Do i call my insurance agency (she has insurance, i have all her details)?
Pro: they will inspect the car closely to see if theres any damage that i cannot see, they may deem the towbar to be damaged and needs to be replaced, and they will repair the bar.
Con: they may inisist on painting the bar and making it slightly different colour to the rest, and all the stuffing around with going to get it done.
Also, how late is too late to call the insurance agency if i do?

Mate, I would still call them and let them know, because the other driver will do the same.
Let them know what happened and they'll let you know if anything needs to be done.
The tow bar may have taken the brunt of the crash but al though there pretty tough it'll be a good idea for the insurance company to check it over.
My wife did the same thing she let them know, they found she wasn't at fault and they replaced her rear bar when all it really needed was a little cosmetic repair and paint. And she never lost rating or paid her excess.

if your car is even remotely metallic, they'll respray and colour blend the paint, not just repaint the bar. I'd do it, time to fix all the little annoying things that can sometimes appear. I'd get the towbar checked out mate, especially if you ever tow with it. They might be strong, but you only need one little thing to go wrong to cause a disaster when towing.

get on to ur insurance co ASAP! cause the tow bar is bolted onto the chassis rails and they would have taken all the force ur chassis needs to be checked to make shore its all square. take it to a good panel shop and they will put it on a jig and they can tell even if its a few mm out.

get it repaired, and if u want while ur at it, get reverse sensors installed... did it while my rear bumper was getting fixed, made it so much cheaper! (as in around $100 vs $300+ :) )
I bet you thought ****!! when it happened, then got out and saw the tow bar had taken the hit and felt a huge relief through your body lol
With above, you've nothing to loose, it wasn't your fault so its not like your at risk of paying up anything.
I'm with TJ SPORTS, GET IT CHECKED.
Argh insurance agencies,
Called up my insurance agency and first of all they said that i cant call, even though im covered, i cant claim.
So then i get the gf to call (policy is in her name) and they want: names, addresses, lic numbers, phone numbers, car rego's and to ask all the witnesses "whos fault do you think it was?". I got details, not everyones autobiography.
When i called, the woman said that i can go through my insurance agency (allianz) or theirs (racv), would it be easier for me to claim through theirs or would i still need to gather ALL these details?
remember i said it could be a pain in the bum?

go through her insurance company, get in touch with her, ask her for her claim number and a contact number, then call them. Use your insurance company if they give you the run around etc.
