I had a Redback system on mine (Cat back) but it did have a distinctive drone at around 2000RPM... didn't bother me though.

mine cost $550 installed but the installer hadn't known of anyone to fit the system on a Magna at that time (I think he might have undercharged a bit)... I have seen some other people since who paid $600+

iv got a custom piped sports system with a berklee straight through muffler, got it for 320
320-380 seems to be the going rate for the berklee and lukey systems i think

sounds pretty good and mines only a 4 banger auto
im not too sure about the whole drone deal, but im not bothered by anything about it

I had a Lukey LR2779 muffler on my Magna for a while, until I got a full system made up. It was a great sounding muffler, which funnily enough was actually designed for the Magna.

Unfortunately though, automatics will almost always drone.

Drone is caused by carelessly (cheap, non-designg piping) made exhaust system in Magna. "Free flow" muffler will just reveal the reverberations more. Wanna get rid of that, replace the whole system with properly made custom piping. If you can afford such stuff. I can't

I think it really depends how loud you want it... Performance wise almost comes down to just getting the straight through muffler.

Personally, I was happy with a nice little burble at idle and cruising and a nice tone when i accelerate.

I got custom piping from the cat back with 2 hotdogs, but a Magnaflow Muffler.

The hotdogs keep the volume down (and minimal (almost non-existent) drone), but the muffler give the nice rumble on take off.

Guys on here who have heard my exhaust will vouch that it sounds good.

The Magnaflow mufflers don't come as cheap as the redback/lukey mufflers, but i couldn't be happier with mine.

Your a mad rep, you'd think someone who's supposed to set an example as one of the more important memebers of the club could be a little more constructive and useful with their posts. The guy's new to the forums, cut him some slack.

I've got a Lukey AL4-5597 Rear Muffler fitted to my car, its a tad louder than the factory fitted Sports/VRX exhaust and is completely bolt on, so its not much effort to fit yourself, just need to pickup some suitable bolts and a new gasket or gasket glue from supercheap. Then get a nice tip welded on and your in business!

It is not the most tactful way of putting it true, but BJ31OS still offered a valid response. I don't think it was that harsh.

Me either,Jesus,if that was harsh ill go eat my hat,and why should he have to walk on eggshells cos he is a rep?,if you call a spade a spade everytime, whats the drama?

Back on topic,My vote goes to the Lukey LR2779 aswell

Sorry if you found it offensive but like HyperTF said i could have worded it better but still wasnt that harsh, plus it will teach new members to search before starting a new thread about the same topics that have been discussed many times.

I've got a generic lukey muffler, cost $195 fully installed, the shop made a nice dump tip out of some pipe and painted it black. It's louder than my mates factory sports muffler and only drones a bit at 2200 revs and personally the drone that it produces is actually quite nice.

XForce Stainless Rules! Noisier than Lukey's tho.
More expensive and requires welding.

Muffler DOES NOT produce drone, less sound elimination in "free flow" mufflers REVEAL the existing drone much more than std muffler, which is silent as.

I have an xforce stainless... very sporty sounding muffler, reminds me of that supra from fast and the furious 1 :)

Could try this. Sorry for the sound quality it was taken on a Sony W910i

http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=cIZzYpV6gDo

Stock pipe with a hot dog and a lil sports muffler at the back that someone said was a mercury muffler. It works well, its quiet when you need it and damn loud every other time but yea you always know its there.

Hay mate sounds good so was that a catback exhaust. So u got rid of that middle muffler just after the catalitic exhaust and replaced it with a hotdogg?

I too have a Lukey LR2779 with a single resonator and 2 1/2 inch mandrel bent cat back exhaust.
Love the sound at idle, and also when accelerating. Lucifer can attest to that, poor kid nearly made a mess of himself. That was just driving into town for his birthday.

Cheers mate. Its stock piping with a hotdog replacing the center muffler and what Iam told is a mercury muffler at the rear. It is loud and you always know its there but its not overwhelming when cruising and unless nailing it my music downs most of it out anyhow.

Most of the system came with the car when I bought it. I added the hotdog later on cause the center muffler was badly cracked and needed replacing and the muffler guy said this was the better option and would give a better noise. Which it did once it worked itself in abit.

I dont fully know what a hotdog is but my understanding is its a sort of resonator and just creates a louder and better note to the exhaust but other member might know more.

As for the muffler I had no idea what it was and niether did the previous owner but the guy who put the hotdog on said it was a mercury muffler. I'll get a photo of it up as soon as I can cause it is really small compared to the Lukey mufflers most members go for but still gives a great sound.

Hay mate how big is the resonator.?

the hotdog or the rear muffler?

The hotdog is roughly 40cms long I think Im at work so can't see it at the moment. The rear muffler is about 30cm long and 20-sumthin cm wide. Just guessing the dimensions from memory.
