Penrite HPR 5 5w-40 for me, but any syn oil 5-30 to 10-40 is fine, double check with your engine builder though due to new bore etc.

i used fuch once, tappets got a bit noisey so i changed it back to penrite, the edge is pretty decent as well.

Does your blower have a shared oil supply like the Sprintex setup, or does it use its own? If it's shared, you need to check with Raptor or whatever relevent party about what oil the blower needs.

Sprintex specify 5w-40, I was using 10w-30 when the car was NA.

As long as you change the oil regularly, pretty much any brand name full synth should be fine. But if you like tracking or thrashing your car, get quality stuff that can withstand more extreme heat cycles - e.g with no oil cooler oil temp can get over 120 degrees on the track, cheaper oils tend to lose their protective properties at this sort of temp.

My favourites are NEO platinum (U.S-made oil, only one distributor in aus AFAIK) and Royal Purple - high detergency levels and durability under extreme heat cycles.

Raptor is sealed bearings, no oil needed, IMHO Royal Purple is overkill for the price you pay for it, even the testing (Bearing wear pressure test) showed while it did beat the competition it only just edged out Mobil by the smallest of margins, while this test wasnt offical it does give a resonable bassis on what the oil can do.

Nulon is also another oil looking into, there less friction advertising is an API rated test procedure so it is true.

Fuchs or Penrite are the 2 I use and the only 2

If Penrite HPR15, I used to use HPR15 in my 13BT (was running T04 at 18PSI) and I never had any issue at all.

I have tried them all except purple and for now Castrol Edge is the only one which can take the pace, the rest die too early

A friend told me:

I like Amsoil but its hard to get here. I've never had any issues with Mobil 1 and use a brew they do for me. Most endurance race engines fill with their 15W/50(also a special oil not publicly available), and the guys after more power go for Mobil 1 0W/40. I don't like that oil. Its not a true Mobil 1 but a mix of 3 different base oils. Its good for HP and reduced fuel consumption but doesn't protect bearings and cams as well as true Mobil 1. Mobil 1 10W/30 is far too light. It is really closer to a 0W/20 and I personally think developed for Chev to help get the alloy V8 through USA fuel economy tests without destroying the engine. Funnily enough their new 5W/30 is a lot heavier than the 10W/30!!! The oil grade numbers game is alive and well too.

Castrol 5W/30 is actually relatively heavy. A truer grading would be 0W/40. In viscosity terms it is almost identical to their 0W/40; in fact I don't think a general oil test laboratory could pick the difference. But for their 0W/40 they either put in better or more additives as its a lot more expensive. Is 5W/30 just a cheap synthetic? The extra price can just be a marketing ploy too, some people buy top$$$ thinking it has to be better.

Basically for most hot climate engines Mobil 1 5W/50 is the way to go. It gives good wear and oxidation protection, doesn't evaporate, gives near best HP possible and near best fuel economy. However as with all road use oils Mobil have had to reduce some additives like zinc and sulphur to help keep CATS alive, and that can mean more cam lobe wear in comp engines.

Guess 'Oils aint Oils'

I use Penzzoil Platinum in both my magna and my MPS3 now, i used to run Fuchs Supersyn 5W-40 in my old magna engines.

Never again will castrol edge sport go into a forced inducted car that i own after seeing what it did to the turbo of my mps and how crap it was after a small amount of kms. As i said in EZboys thread, even the castrol rep was horrified at how bad the oil was after bugger all work, my turbo rebuilding mate recommened either Penzzoil, Penrite or torco oils.

I have only used Penrite and I run a 210kw turbocharged Toyota Chaser.

Penrite SYN 10W-70 here in my EVO. I would be looking at this too for a supercharged Magna due to the extra heat generated by the blower.
