having a 92' TR wagon 2.6 - 4cyl
and not being the most brightest of car owners
i was wondering what kind if any MODS i can do to it..
POD filter of wateva..
cause i feel that the weight of the car is too heavy for the engine so are there any posibilities that i can inprove car power with a few mods??

A pod will definatly release some extra power on the 2.6, when i had one on my TS i couldn't believe the difference. Not to mention the induction roar to follow.

If your not keen on a pod, then a K&N panel filter would be your next best bet.

What mods are you after? Performance? Cosmetics?

well i'll probably look into an exhaust..
but other than that and the filter thats about all i know..
yeah so i guess performance and cosmetic aswell.
wateva that will improve the car...

No the TR can have a pod providing its fuel injected.

Other than that, look at extrators, a good muffler and you should pick up a nice handful of kw's easy. Also think about swapping the ignition leads to something more heavyduty like bosch 7mm or even 10mm. I did this on my TS and my god did it make an improvement.

Cosmetics, get some nice dark tint, lower it with some king superlows (we have these on special atm, so if your interested e-mail me) and where funds permit a nice set of rims.

I will have to double check the pricing on extractors for your 2.6 but we can get pacemakers and RPW for you.

K&N Pod Filter Specific to the MAS sensor $220.00 AUD

K&N Panel Filter $134.00 AUD

If you have any further questions regarding mods, feel free to e-mail me

Extractors are about 600ish

I got a 2.5" mandrel bent cat back exhaust with the Lukey LR2779 and chrome tip for $490 installed..

From Windsor Exhaust Centre

Edit: Removed location details because I realised I'm an idiot and didnt notice you're from the NT! lol

Extractors for the 2.6 are much cheaper though as there is less involved.

If and when you put a pod filter on, take off the containers on the intake pipe, and put in Gatoraide bottle lids, this will slighty lower performance but all heads will turn when you do a fly-by. Don't forget to put in a big cold air induction pipe cause you want the least hot air going into the engine.

I think me and blake have been telling in this forum about how changing the exhaust and the filter first is the most beneficial thing to do for a car....

You might want to look into that first as a start :D

You mean by removing the resonators?

I don't generally agree with people when they do this but you will increase induction noise by doing it. I did it in my TE for a while but make sure you cover the openings tight and don't let the cover get sucked through your induction system into your motor. Not nice...

Yeah the resonator boxes is a highly debated issue.

I've come to the conclusion that it's not always benficial for all magnas to do it.

BUT it's not an irreversable mod. So if it doesnt do anything, you can put them back

I took mine off and I had a very noticeable increase in throttle response and it had a better induction noise.

And as blake said..you NEED to make sure the holes are sealed of PERFECTLY. any air that gets in behind the MAS sensor will spell badddddddddddd (with all those d's!)

Killbillys right, it isn't irreversable so by all means give it a go...

I just noticed i lost a fair bit of power down low and it affected the smoothness of power delivery.

LoL perfect example of how I said it doest work for everyone, because I had the complete opposite result.

Ah well..give it a go :)

hey bud! great to see another owner not embaressed by owning a wagon! the more of us the better i say. apart from the vrx and the one off ralliart sports wagon(WOW!!!!) im not a big fan of the newer shape but when done up right and looked after i truly believe the wagon leaves the sedan for dead asthetically in the tr/ts models. and with the right mods on top (like the ones afor mentioned plus a couple others, all easy stuff even for a novice) theres no reason our wagons cant be kicken some sedan arse. they are also much more comfortable to sleep in when your out partying!
