Hi Guys, I am hoping someone here may know whats going on with my car, about three months ago, i noticed that whenever I went over a small bump in the road where I was turning to the right a little, for example (you know like when someone is turning into somewhere and you go around them to their left, and to move back onto the road you turn to the right a little) when the back wheels of car hit the bump, it feels like the back of the car is losing traction and it swings the back of the car out slightly, just enough for me and passengers to notice it. Now before anyone says stop speeding, it does it even when I am doing 40k's an hour. I had a look at the tyres and saw the outer tread was warn so I went and bought 4 new tyres and a front and rear wheel alignment. I thought that will be that sorted, but same spot on the way home, small bump and the rear of the car swings out a fraction. I had the people look at the shocks when they did the tyres and they said they were fine, but I am not sure, I am starting to worry a little because I dont want to be doing like 100 and hit a bump in the road and all of a sudden I lose control. I thought maybe it could be the springs or the shocks on the rear left of the car. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions, It would be very helpful.

yeah they had a look at them when i had the tyres done, I also had a full service done at the same time, they did a free safety inspection so I was expecting them to find something, but nothing came up.

The toe out on the rear wheels might be out of spec. Get it put back to the manufacturers specs if theyre out and see if that makes a difference.

It should've been done, but it can't hurt to check.

Get the suspension bushes checked both front and rear.

If the rear end appears to step out a bit when going over a bump, then the likely cause is a worn joint or bush.

I recently changed the main front arm bushes from rubber. This achieves a major improvement in the precision of the steering.

Red Ranger - Nolathane do a whole set of Magna replacement bushes.

it could be many things lol rear arm bushes , shock or spring sag , lose bolts , slightly worn bushes/rubbers my advice is take it to a palce like pedders and leave it with them fora day they will take it fora spin n strip down what they feel is the problem if you had outter wheel wear then as nemesis said get it re-done or atleast checked you have no idea how many ppl came to us (use to work for pedders) 5 mins after having wheels fitted and aligned and we would have to redo it , check your wheels are balanced and the rims are in good condition i.e no warps or anything. if your car has power mods to it ur stocks parts may need an upgrade , i dont know what sort of car you got but if you have any adjustable arms check them too and last but not least check your actual shock bolts (the bolts that hold the suspension set up to the car) some car makers use none or ****ty lock-tite which can cause the smallest of movement but enough to make a difference hope this helps :)
