as some will know ive recently picked up an '02 verada GTV through work (i work at a car dealership)
I decided to check the auto tranny fluid today and this is what the tissue looked like afterwards.
Now I can see it needs a flush, but what worries me are the darker bits... to me it looks like they could be metallic shavings which worries me BIG time
what do you guys think ?

How does the trans shift, hot and cold? Any slurring or slipping?
How does it drop into gear? Any clunks or bumps?
What sort of mileage?
Give it a thorough flush, with about 15L of fluid. Unfortunately later model transaxles weren't fitted with external filters, although there is one contained within the valve body. If you're paranoid about it, it may be worth fitting a remote filter. I've fitted one, along with a cooler, to my TL. The filters cost a couple of dollars, and the cooler is added insurance.
Flush it, disconnect the battery to reset the transmission's shift pattern, and see what happens.

soryr should have added more info
i'm no expert but it seems to shift OK. takes just a tad longer to get into gear (from N to D) then my last magna but that's it.
146000 kays on the clock
i wouldnt have a clue how to flush a transmission and i'd probably **** something up if i tried so I might get my work to do it then
maybe im being paranoid but it just didnt look good!

I think your being a tad paranoid, unless there is large chunks of metal in the fluid i wouldnt worry, small shavings is pretty normal for auto boxes i believe

Simply get a mechanic to do a full flush, even your dealership if you trust them (IF you trust them lol)

How do you flush a tranny's box? PLEEZ EXPLAIN! And does it matter if it is a Bankok tranny or a local one?

just use a hose (small or large) depends on how much you want to spend. I prefer the gun shaped nossle. bankok tranny box's can take the biggers hoses and are cheaper, but you don't get that satisfaction of knowing your buying australian made.

Haha yeh you have bigger problems if you have metal shavings in the fluid from your tranny box, flushed monthly by the way :bowrofl:
