I am on a mission to improve the steering in a TL\TW.
And maybe, just maybe provide a better solution to steering a third gen and road feedback without replacing the steerig rack/pump.
Since I have found out that the increase in engine revs, and not actual road speed control the level of power steering assistance.
And, combining this with Barry's mention of removing of the control wire to the power steering pump to enable minimum assist, increasing road "feedback through the wheel, it has made me ask these questions.
1. If we were to fit a suitable resistor in-line with the control wire, would this stiffen steering and increase road feel.
2. What current is supplied at idle and say 5000 RPM.
3. Which resistor would take approx 30% of the current way from the pump.
4. Would it negatively impact the device that supplies the current.
5. Am I an idiot, and they just don't work that way.
Any help here would be appreciated, this may be the dumbest thing I ever thought about, or an answer to question.
