with my 3.5L/manual conversion comming up soon,
i was looking at swaping the heads off the 147kw TH engine 180000KMS
to a 155KW TJ heads, using complete heads
does anybody think its a worthwhile mod?
how hard is it to swap the heads over while the engine is out of the car?

Now, I'm not a mechanic (and nor do I play one on TV), but I thought the general word on these forums was that the 155killer-wasps was largely the result of ECU tune, larger exhaust system and flow-thru muffler on the TJ Sports (and added to more of model range later in the series).
I wasn't aware that Heads were any different. I expect other members in here will be more proficient in Magna-lore and mechanical experience, ans can probably give you a more definite answer.......

No they have different cam's from the s1 to s2, the 155-163kw motors (sports models) is the rear box assembly. But not really worth doing it unless your new motor needs it.

i was under the impression that the 147-155KW was from a revised cam profile.
and the jump to 163KW was from an addition of a high flow rear muffler
if any changes to the tune were made, i will get those gains when i add a piggyback later

147-150 is different cam
150-155 is ECU tune.

If the engine is out, and the heads are free/VERY cheap, why not....Just need new HG's..
I would, 5kw is 5kw:P
re-read.....3kw...
maybe NOT worth it..

Spot on.
And seriously I alone have posted this info in about 10 threads in the past, how many times does this need to be posted before people learn?
Perhaps we need a FAQ about engine power, what oil to use, how awesome CAI is, how FI'ing a FWD is the ultimate expression of cool, K&N Panel vs Pod, All V6's and the 4G64 are belt driven and the 4G54 is chain......so many topics and answers that keep coming back.....
Being able to type random garbage under my username is awesome and all but come on....

hmm since the 150-155 is though tune, and only 3kw to gain from the physical head swap
i think i may leave it
