This is a common Magna Fault.
Your Fuel Sender is stuffed. You'll need a new unit ~$70 plus installation from memory.

Yes this happened to me about 18 months ago.

You will need to depressurize the system before you can remove the fuel pump and sender assembly, best way to do this is to unplug the power on the top of the cap (next to the fuel line) start the car and after a few seconds the car will splutter and stall.

Now when you remove the fuel line cover it with a thick rag (will still have some pressure in the line) to stop it going everywhere, you can now remove the 4 bolts and pull upward to break the seal, now be very careful on this next bit as you can damage the float, pull upwards slowly and let the remaining fuel drain out of the pump, now tilt the assembly on an angle to allow the float to come out.

Once the assembly is clear the hole, cover the hole with the top plate + a rag, last you want is crap falling in there. Check the sender unit float and sender contacts, but i daresay its shagged. Refitting is the same as removal, when you start the car again, it will take a few secounds to crank over as it will need to repressure the fuel system.

Here is the DIY

you may need the help of another person to remove one of the hoses, it requires some sort of special device, but i can be done without it.

Found when we did my one, we had to take the filler cap off as well. One big hissing sound later, pressure was gone.

There is a big difference between pressure in a fuel line and pressure in the tank

Release both to be safe

The sender is not a repairable unit, you will need to replace it completely.

While you have the pump out, get a new sock as well, may as well fit the little bugger while the pump is on your bench

I had the same problem with my TJ II a couple of months ago.
Replacement unit cost $70 odd. Then got my car savvy mate to help fit it. The hardest part was getting the fuel line off the top of the tank. It took both of us using pliers to carefully take the pesky thing off.....
And yeah make sure the filler cap is off. And remember to put it back on
