View Full Version : Seatbelt Alarm
Hi does anyone know how to turn the seatbelt alarm off in a 380? I always wear my seatbelt so do not need an alarm to tell me to do it, plus it is really annoying. I am not suggesting that anyone shouldn't wear their seatbelt, I just want to get rid of an annoying noise that does not help me in any way.

i don't believe there is a way to get rid of the alarm, and if you always wear it then it shouldn't be a problem ;)

Put ya seatbelt on before you get to the "on" position on the ignition. It won't go off then.

Or drive everywhere under 20kph... I think that's when the alarm kicks in.
EDIT: Correction, it is 40kph that the alarm kicks in. That gives you an extra 20k of speeding freedom.

i think it's a timed thing as well, i've noticed it going off when i've left the car running to jump out for a few minutes jump back in and it's already beeping at me.
BloodAsp....My point exactly - its a nuisance. With other makes you can deactivate it but doesn't sound like anyone knows how to here.

Yeah i suppose but it dosen't bother me to be honest i just whack on the seat belt and away i go without any issues, i guess if you were sitting in the car with it running and the seatbelt off it could get annoying.....but yeah as far as i know there is no way to turn it off, without plugging something into the seat belt clip as thats where the sensor is.

How does a seat belt alarm get annoying if you always where your seatbelt?
There would be a wire or two running to it. You either have have to permanently loop or interupt the the wires. The speaker maybe the same as other alarms, so it may be modded at the seatbelt clast, but that would get rid of the warning light too.
All very illegal but unlike to be noticed. But you never know.
Seat belt fines are massive and the points are huge, and they can save your life ( I have had a broken sternum instead of a mashed face and a broken neck.)
Just turn up your Stereo, Its not that bad really.
The 380 could have had another 1/2 star in the ancap ratings if they had a seatbelt alarm on the passenger seat.

trust me it does, if you drive alot. What i do is get in, turn my car on then put my seltbelt on straight after... the noise in between that process on alot of cars including my xr8, my dad's aurion for example is just stupid and unnecessary.
Anyway, It should be instinct to put your selbelt on when you start driving, the alarms are only there for those dumbass drivers that can barely put petrol in their own cars

So I tried it, it does, at start up 'beep beep' six times. I sat there for another minute, with out the belt on, and nothing. Perhaps you could locate the speaker and quiten it up a bit. Probably better than a disconnection. You'd still want the light to work.
As for the cause of the problem, its probably for the D*&^ A$$ Yanks, seeing as its based on the Galant.

Funny, I watched the report on car crash ratings on the Sydney news early this week and the test group guy noted that a car with a seat belt warning tone and light got higher marks than one without. Must be more prevalent in new cars of all kinds by the sound of it. From my experience of driving cars in the US they tend to have a more friendly chime than the irritating 380 beeper. Cheers...
