hey all, i took my car back to the tint shop today to show them the dirty spots on every window from top to bottom, thinking that the water they used was dirty and it got trapped between the film and the window. it turns out tha it was acid rain, he said every car has it but it doesnt show up unless you tint as dark as mine. i asked him how to get it off he said maybe prepsol but he wasent sure so i thought id try some kitten cutting compound and PRESTO problem solved my windows are now clean and shine like they never have before so if anyone is considering going as dark as i have and this shows up now you know what it is and how to get it off

Just to take this to a slighly different tagent, is this paint cutting compound you used or was it a glass specific one? (I'm thinking not ...) The reason I ask is that this made me think of the water marks in my shower screen at home and as it is apparently caused by hard water (?) I'm wondering if it'll have the same effect and clean the glass.

Actually I think I have some cutting compound in the garage somewhere might give it a try! I can't possibly make it look worse than it does currently.

try a cleaner called Gumption. This stuff is magic, just use an ordinary cloth, NOT a scourer!

He has 5%, search for threads started by bam_bam.

After getting my car cleaned for me at a carwash the other day, I now have streaks of pure white on my doors, I think my car needs a detail!

Treat your windows with Rain-X. This will prevent the problem reoccuring

I love Rain-X products.

Especially the anti-fog.

I used to use rainx but found that after a week or so the wiper bladed jump like you would not believe.

I found that if I re treated it every week or so it was ok but have not got time to do that. Also tried the rainx you put in your washer bottle, same result

Once this stuff is on your screen, if you can not keep up the treatment it all goes bad

I do use it on the rear and side windows still however

Hrm - you might be onto something here, I thought it was just my crappy wipers that jump across the windscreen...

Ya, its also fine for plastic. I used it on my para lenses to get the clouding on the outside off, unfortunantly they are also clouded on the inside :(

That will work, but thats a heavy cutting compund, if you wanna do it properly, you sand it down with 400, 800, 1200, 2000 then polish out and it should shine like a mofo.

Yeah!!! what you didn't say TUFFTR.... is the Length of time it takes to do it that way...

You are right though.... they'll be clear as a new piece of glass if done right!!!

some ceramic cooktop polishes are ceruum-oxide based.. which is the best for polishing glass

try some of that..

RE - parra's and other poly carb lenses.. i used some 1500 wet & Freckla G6 cutting compound on my little GT starlet (we just finished painting and were buffing and chopping the peel out)... they are brilliant now! :)
