gday there folks
New to the forum, although i have been browsing it for about 6 months, since i got my car.

It is my first car, 98 tf, station wagon. really love it. its a great car.

Its had no probs so far, how ever as its about to hit 180000 kms, i thought i might book it in for a major service, and change brakes while i was at it.

I live on the northern beaches so i scoured the forums for a place to take it, TWEAK IT, was recomended by chisolm.
I called a week in advance and booked in a major service, and asked them to order me the DBA 400 slotted rotors and bendix ultimates for the front brakes. they said sure

ANYWAY cut a long story short, went there on my day off, dropped the car off, the guys had no idea about the booking, but they said they could do it anyway, and then they said the brakes were never ordered. I said ok, can u get them in, they said probly yeh sure. then they called back sayin that they couldnt get these brakes in till next week. so i said never mind, ill wait till then, just do the service.

they said it would be finised by the end of the day, then they called saying it be done the next day, (today) so i left work early to be there by 5 ( a major hassle considering i manage a dick smith store, and its very busy atm) and then they call saying someone screwed up the order for timing belt kit and its going to be another day.

So a major service (with no major probs) results in me being without a car for 3 days. i really had high hopes for these guys and planned getting more done with them, however the experience hasnt been fantastic.

can anyone else recomend anywhere on the northern beaches for servicing and modifications?
And has anyone else here had any problems with tweakit? or it could just have been a one off...

cheers guys.

i cant reccomend anywhere else on the northern beaches but i can confirm your story, i found tweak it very unprofessional for a place their size. needless to say im glad i never have to use them again

The two times that I've been at Tweakit they've had a packed workshop...

You probably just got them at a bad time.

yeah their workshop is packed out all the time, i think thats why they cant be stuffed worrying about people like myself.

tweakit held up the purchase of my blower for 2 months while they blamed me when they were talking to sprintex about ordering the blower (blaming me for not having the deposit when in fact i wanted an invoice emailed to me so i could pay the deposit. which tweakit were "getting to"), i even tried to get sprintex to sell me the unit to be installed my my mechanic without warranty because i didnt trust tweakit, but they wouldnt. they failed to have me booked in when i was getting the blower installed (not really a small job).

all in all i didnt like the experience of dealing with tweakit. and ill do everything in my power to avoid it again

hmmm seems to be the same that i feel. i do have the brake change and exaust fitment booked in for next week, but maybe its best that i have a look else where.

maybe i did get them at a bad time, but i did book 10 days in advance...

any suggestions?

changing the rotors is very simple and could be done at home, for the exhaust id chase up a specialised exhaust workshop, check the yellow pages

I can't speak for these guys, but if they stuffed you around the first time, do they deserve to get your hard earned this time around?

Go to an exhaust specialist & possibly a brake specialist. Find a new mechanic. :D

Yeah gotta remember Tweakit have everything overbooked to a certain degeree, i know they are knee deep in a ferrari build among other things, only go to them if you need performance work, otherwise they really dont want to know you.

They are good blokes just always very busy
