hi guys,

after having the stock components in the Kj amped up for about a year, and still not giving in!

i'm after a bit of an entry/mid level component speaker..

power handeling isn't a problem, i'm probly going to upgrade the amp (cheapish 1000w 4 ch, think i'm lucky to squeeze 50-55 rms out of each channel) the alpines will need a fair bit more power!!!

i'll buy an amp to suit later..

sound boards are crap and i don't think they do anything for the real sound of the speaker..

the models i'm looking at are all around the same price..

Focal Acesss 165 A1
Pioneer D series - TS-D1720C
good old Alpine Type R's SPR17S

just after a bit of feed back... entry level good brand, vs a little higher in the more common 'mainstream cheap' brands..

i really really really like the clarity the Pioneer PRS components have, 2 of my mates run them.. and the D series uses pretty much the same tweeter, have had a bit of experience with the Type R's but ages ago, might have changed since then.. and the focals never heard in a car (only sound board)

I'd be going entry level good brand to be honest, I'm guessing your budget is about $300, in which you could actually get the Polyglass 165V1 splits, and they are much better than the 3 you've listed :P

If you like the sound of the pioneer, just buy the pioneer.

Sound deadening /boards do a lot for the sound of the speaker......

i know but they sound completly different in the car.. even if the car has leather/ cloth trim sounds different..

i've just done a little dynamating in the front doors,

fair bit cheaper than $300... just wish our $$ was worth more..

Ers- if i wanted to spend more i would get the PRS's..

i can see i'm pretty much wasting my time here, thanks anyway

In a way yes you are wasting your time, only because you asked a question which speaker everyone thinks you should get.

Speakers come down to personal preference, nothing more....

People will say go focal, alpine, hertz, boston, ss, whatever....

In the end none of the speakers for $200 odd are bad speakers, just all sound different. If you have already heard similar pioneers in mates cars, and they fit your price bracket, then just get them.

The other reason why I gave a rather short sharp answer, is the same question word for word almost has been asked atleast 5 times in the last 2 months.
