Hi everone

First of all, wishing all community members a merry christmas and a safe new year

I have purchased a spare leather gear knob for my VR-X. I had a go at removing whats in the car now and feels like it unscrews from the base, underneath the leather boot. I'm not sure how to remove and replace this part. I would have thought this unscrews from just above the boot. Has anyone got some advice for me??

Sorry title shoulb be knob just like my spelling abilities today!!!

unscrews from the top then when you put the new one on make sure the white plastic thread thing is pushed into the knob completly

guess I'm not trying hard enough, feels like its unscrewing from the floor like I said.
I rang today to place my order and my mitsi dealer said there is 2 left showing in Sydney. Surely this can be right!

Yep, thay are tight! Auzzie heat glues them on I guess. Use a lot of force! Should be easy when it starts to move.

ok. thanks for the advice. I'm starting to replace some of the interior parts that subject to wear before they get too expensive or dont exist anymore.

Oh please please please.......

If anyone has a spare of that white plastic thing that goes under the Manual Gear Knob, let me know......

I dunno how but I see to have lost mine out of the TJ Sports, haven't seen one in a wreck (some older models just seemed to have a locknut under there), and my local parts counter has no idea and can't see it on the parts system....

Its SUCH a good thing, I miss it SOOO much, and ever since I lost it, I've never had the gearknob straight or really firm.
(For those not in the know its a plastic sleeve under the gear knob which gets compressed onto the threaded gear stick as the knob is wound on... its clamps nice and tight and lets you position the knob firmly and lined-up nice. And we all know how good a lined-up knob is.

just ordered one through mitsi. they said there is only 2 left both showing in sydney. dont know how true that is but get on to it quick. mine is fine I just want a spare for later down the track when TJ parts are basically not around anymore. I'm starting to accumulate a range of new spare parts that wear alot for various reasons.
