OK, All night Christmas Shopping is bul!****!! Parked at Chadstone Shopping Centre about 2 hours ago and some drug-addicted, dole-bludging, free-loading, theiving pr!ck has broken the back drivers-side window of the Verada. The one time all year I relent and go shopping with The Dragon and this is what happens!! They never touch her RAV4 when she shops there every second day.....anyway, I'm going to have to look for a new glass tomorrow at whatever wreckers I can find open, can anyone tell me is the manual window glass the same as the glass for electric windows? It's easier to find parts for Magna's than it is for Verada's and if they're interchangable then I'm a happy man.......I'm guessing not, I'm sure the Verada glass comes with an in-built sun deflector and a flip-out umbrella which add $37,000 to the price of the glass, but it was worth a try.....then theres re-tinting the ba$tard and then all the tint won't match so I'll have to re-tint all of them......Might be time for a new car!!

A lot of the later magnas had power windows too. The glass should be interchangeable with your car.

Whereabouts are you located. I've got the window your looking for, with factory tint from a TJ. I don't know about getting it out of the door tomorrow, though. :doubt:

Glass is identical from TE-TW / KE-KW regardless of power or manual windows IIRC.

They should be able to match the tint up too... Don't stress mate, at least they didn't break something more expensive than a window.

Ya, window would probably be the best thing to get damaged.

Thanks guys, much appreciated, at least I know I'll be able to get one fairly easy now. Alscall I'm in Patterson Lakes in Vic, but I'm happy enough to cruise around the local wrecker who I know has dozens of Magna's and I'll be able to get a glass really easy. No sense both of us ruining a Sunday if you had to try and get your window out before I could fit it, I have to have it fixed before Monday so thanks anyway, I really appreciate it. Yep I know it could have been worse, it's mildly annoying if nothing else, they didn't steal anything (there was nothing worthwhile in the car to steal) and the didn't even open the doors (I guess they knew that the alarm would go off). I just got a bit pissy because the cops at Oakleigh copshop didn't seem especially interested, then I went through a booze bus on my way home and all of a sudden the coppers were interested, I blew clear and all that was fine but the female cop asked me what happened to the window, then rather than trying to sympathise, told me that I shoulnd't be driving the car because the window was broken. She graciously let me drive it home but told me that I should leave it there til the window was fixed......as though I was going to drive it Venezuela at midnight with the tinting flapping around my ears and tiny cubes of safety glass peircing my jeans as I sat in the *****. I usually hate people who knock cops, I don't think they deserve the crap they get from people, but she asked what happened, I had a police report in my hand ready to show her (that I had to drive tot he cop shop to fill out because they couldn't take my statement over the phone and god-forbid I should expect them to come to me or even bother to inspect the car)....altogether just a bit of an ordinary night. An easy fix tomorrow then all should be good. Thanks again for the replies.

:bowrofl: :bowrofl:

Sorry to hear about your car, its a pity they just can't find a shed, take these scum out the back of it, and then introduce them to the concept of a mass grave.

Yeah, I've taken a deep breath and calmed the DONT BYPASS SWEAR FILTER!!!!!!! down since last night, I'm sure they were just desperate people at Xmas looking for something (presents or otherwise). But last night if I could have got hold of the bastards they'd have paid for more than a frigging window!! Anyway, good news, RACV cover window glass as part of my policy, no excess, they're sending O'Brien Glass to come and fix it. That fits so perfectly with my "get someone else to do it" ideal, and in this case I don't even have to pay. THAT is awesome!! Whoever thought I'd have a nice thing to say about an insurance company? RACV you rock*

* Disclaimer: "You Rock" was, and only ever can be, used when comparing RACV to other insurance companies, it is not a general statement meant to compare RACV with actual, normal, nice, non-insurance related people/companies and may not be used as an endorsement in advertising or otherwise. Insurance Companies still, in my opinion, rate somewhere between the Tax Man and Testicular Cancer, the statement "You Rock" just places RACV closer to the Tax Man as opposed to other insurance companies that all rate around the Testicular Cancer end of the scale.

For future reference it's probably worth checking this out if anybody else has the same issue. Thanks again for all the replies!!

Ah the advantages of being 30, there aren't many but cheap insurance is certainly one. $63 per month includes rating protection (I'm rating one for life, who could've predicted that a few years ago? In your face Dad!!) window cover and hire car. I remember the days of $2700 policies with $1300 excess......and don't miss them at all.

Mate, Jolly Rogers in Greens Road have tons of them, just check your window colour is the same however I do not think that Mits used different colour tints in the glass.

They are not too bad to fit but adjusting can be a bugger, if you have issues, I will be home after about 5.30 tomorrow so you can pop over and I can adjust it up for you properly, pm me if you need help

You guys rock, honestly who offers to help a complete stranger fix a car? Frigging awesome!! Thanks heaps for the offer, but I've built this sexy little number out of a roll of duct tape (yep a whole roll) and a Hefty Bag and, I've got to say, I'm growing kinda fond of it, lol. It has been pointed out to me that if I'd used black tape it wouldn't have looked quite so out of place....but who needs the negativity? It's the tall poppy syndrome, everyones a knocker!! It will get me through til tomorrow morning when O'Brien glass are coming to replace it. It's also relatively sound proof (I guess a roll of tape will have that effect) and it's keeping the A/C in the car (it was 30 in Melbourne today so the gaping hole was making my hair flat and leaving unsightly sweat stains on my t-shirt!!!) it does make head-checks difficult, but then I stopped doing those shortly after I got my license so it hasn't affected me.

Jolly Roger/Total is exactly where I was going if the window wasn't covered, I know they have heaps of Magna's and, apart from that, it's just a fun place to scratch around (does that make me sad??) their prices are good and I can usually get what I need. But honestly amazed and rapt at the offers of help. You guys really are awesome!!

I do what I can. But I can't take all the credit, others did play a big part in its creation.......In fact I'd like to take this opportunity to thank 3M Corporation for all of your quality products, without which this window would never have existed
