Hey guys long time lurker and uhhh ok poor joke :P
I was just wondering about exhausts, my old man took my car for a drive he's been dying to since i brought it up here lowered and with the new exhaust :) anyway he told me the buzzing sound it makes about sort of 2.5krpm is not meant to be there and that it's actually the baffle in the exhaust rattling around as if it's loose is this a bad thing and if so does it need to be replaced?
Secondly I've been thinking about painting my brake callipers Probably a gloss black or even if i can find it something similar to the colour of the car is this an easy thing to do, are the callipers easy to remove without allot of effort on my behalf or do i need a semi clue in regards to mechanics to do it?
For the sound it makes if you look for my thread in members rides, or even in the rides thread in the 380 forum there is a short video of how the exhaust sounds.
Cheers
Dave.

So you removed them from the disks but they were still under the car, hung them from something and sprayed them....sounds easy enough....

yep. make sure there cleaned. if theres any grease or brake dust it will ruine the paint.

I perfer removing the calipers entirely and away from the car, overspray is not cool. Only takes 10min to bleed brakes anyways.

i have some old bed sheets that i covered the entire car with. but yes if you cant cover car it might pay you to remove it entirely.

Personally, i dont cover my car purely because any dust on the surface and you place sheets etc can tend to put micro scratches on the paintwork (purely as im a perfectionist)
Bleeding brakes arent too difficult, its really simple with 2 people, just take the top off the master cylinder, have one person with an open ender spanner on the nipple, and the other person on the brake pedal, now the brake pedal person must pump until you see fluid start to come out of the nipple, then tighten halve a turn, rinse and repeat until the nipple is tight.
Do one side at a time and you will be good :P

Does that work for both front and rear wheels, i know this is probably a stupid question but i assume all 4 callipers have said nipple (sorry i'm not a mechanic) and will require bleeding?

you will only need to bleed the ones you pull off.

So what do you want, overspray, or micro swirls, pick one :P

So after discussing this with my dad (read arguing) he's insisting on removing the callipers from the disc's but not removing the break lines and painting them that way, my brother...gotta love family gatherings...has suggested that instead we take them off entierly and paint them using a brush as this avoids....something i'm not sure what i think overspray but if we take the callipers off.
The only thing i'm worried about using a brush is brush strokes showing up on closer inspection, are my fears founded in any kind of reality or am i just being stupid?

Well took the plunge today and decided to go grab the paint, i wanted a metallic blue much like my car but they don't seem to make that in a temp resistant paint so had to settle for a blue gloss....it's called bright blue but the lid (the only thing i had to go by is pretty much the same colour as the car) gonna do it all on friday with my old man probably butting in constantly and telling me i'm doing it wrong, will post up pics then.

If the blue paint is made by septone, it turns out the exact same colour of the lid, a very very bright blue, the metallic blue they should also have in the cabinets is called metalcast annodized, it is heat resistant and fine to paint calipers with, for best effect get the undercoat as well, then you can light sand and get a really nice shiney finish.

Damnit i saw that paint there and thought hrrrm i wonder but it was locked away and i'll be damned if any of the staff wanted to help me.
THe paint i did get is made by VHT it's calliper paint the lid is a dark blue very dark so i'm hoping that the paint will be as well, i'll probably test it first on some cardboard to see what it's actually like before applying, worst comes to worst i'll just head down to supercheap on friday and get the metallic paint :D.

This is what VHT dark blue caliper spray paint will look like. This pic is of my previous car (RAV4):
