On the last service tax invoice i got, it commented that the 'gear shifter has play in bushes'.
Would this be a relatively easy thing to fix? Is it possible to do it myself or would it be better to get mitsu or somebody to do it for me and how much will this cost?
I dont really want to go into mitsu, tell em to fix it, and then recieve a bill for an arm and a leg...

They are plastic inserts, easy to replace but you need to study the linkage to see how many you need, and how it all goes together. Plastic console over the gearstick needs to come off, then you can see. Check if the play is really there, it might be at the other end of the shift cables.

I'm assuming we are discussing a manual gearbox here. Play in the bushes is nothing to worry about, as long as it doesn't interfere with normal gear selection ie changing up or down. Leave it if it doesn't worry you and you can change gears normally.

Yeppo.. manual gearbox.
Hmm nah they are fine to drive with. Its just when changing from 1st to 2nd it makes a weird noise and i can feel it (scratching sensation)..But it doesnt affect the gear change in any way..
So maybe i will just leave it as is.
Just out of interest, how much would mitsubishi charge to replace it/them?
