As long as it's a sealed loop it should be ok.

Should be fine, but I would ask the guys you got it from.

Its redlines version of coolant,

Anything 50/50 is fine, we are going to be using a Castrol Concentrate Coolant in Brads, mixed in 50:50 blend.

Could always run water/meth at a 50/50 mix.

It also shouldnt be boiling over, either your water cooler is too small/not getting enough air etc. Or your heat exchanger is too small and you should be running more water.

*Personally* I would run a thermo fan set up on the water cooler, to draw air through it, triggered by a temp switch.

they say alcohol has better cooling properties then water due to its quicker oxidisation rate/disipation rate. I dont know how well this works when you are using the alcohol to transfer the heat away to the heatexhanger which then uses air to cool the heated alcohol? i dont know if any of the benefits would carry over.

a 50/50blend of metho and water will be a easily test and is also quite hard to ignite so dont have to worry about fires and what not.

That water wetter stuff supposedly thins the water out, making its heat absorbsion and transfer much better. Ive seen the results of it at work, dropping coolant temp some 8 degrees on no other changes to the same car. So it obviosuly does something.

I would be more concerned about how well the heatexchanger is set up then what type of fluid is in it. As this item will give you thee most benefit if its not working proerply and you fix it.

if you have a look in my build thread, you will see the front radiator.. the guys use this same set up for trackdays, etc.. I think maybe its more the water resevoir in the engine bay heating up as its on the strut tower and is very hot to touch....

I Think I'll wait to after xmas and see the guys, for now ill stick to filling it up I think just to be safe,

Which thread do you mean QMD? went through your thread in members machines and cant find the radiator pic?

The heat exchanger looks like a decent sized unit though.

How much water does your heat exchanger, lines, and radiator hold?

You cant really fit a much bigger heat exchanger, so without seeing the radiator, I'de say other options are: custom alloy radiator (for the w/a cooler set up), and trialing different mixes of water with metho/coolant etc.

What are your intake temps after the heat exchanger btw?

And where is the problem in that. Please explain.i didn't think there was such a thing as to much we have been running this way for 5 yrs or so and never had an issue with overheating or corrosion.

Pure glycol is corrosive, hence why you need to mix it with water

what kind of motor is it? alloy or cast iron? makes a difference to how ot corrodes...

i would still like to see the coolant gallys and see if its been eatn out!
