You can get your original one rebuilt for higher rpm stall, usually can drag another 500rpm out of the stock bits before you modify a zf unit to fit (can get 5,000 rpm units out of europe giggity)

Werent all AWD's 3.5L aka 6G74?

The AWDs were fitted with the EVO VI GTA spec 5spd auto along with a higher stall converter as compared to the standard 3rd gen 4spd/5spd autos.

Slightly incorrect, they were fitted with evo 7 gta center diff but the actual geabox the 5a51 is pure magna.

My repair manual says 6g72 has 200 rpm higher stall.

From what I can remember from reading tech specs, the AWD autos came from the evo 7 GTA and has a different part number to the standard 5spd auto. It had strengthened internals to handle the extra torque loading (due to extra traction of the AWD system).

how could it be a magna gearbox, as they are not AWD boxes? or is AWD achieved through a different Diff only?

The Evo 7 GTA box is a different spec box, different ratios, TC, valving system, wheres afaik the awd magna box is the exact same spec as a standard magna box but its modified with the evo 6 or 7 center diff

This statement about the Magna boxes pretty much coincides with the information that I have found in the Magna manuals.
