Hey guys,

I finally bit the bullet and purchase a PAC SWIx steering wheel interface so I could use my Xi steering wheel radio controls with my aftermarket Pioneer head unit.

Now, I've connected everything as instructed, and the unit is working, and I've been able to set it to the right version.

However, it looks like I am getting no signal from the steering wheel wire from behind the radio cluster.

I followed the instructions for a 'Diamante' from the PAC website, and the colour of the wire to use was the same, so I just assumed that all will work without a hitch.

So, basically, I know the steering wheel buttons are using resistors, because there is only ONE output wire into the OEM headunit, but how can i check if this wire is sending any signals?

Can I use a test light, or mulitmeter, or what?!

Here are the instructions from the PAC website: http://www.pac-audio.com/swixprogramming/showstepbystep.asp?InterfaceChecked=1&RadioGroupPioneer=0&mmSearch=Mitsubishi&Submit2=+Search+Vehicles&ID=154

EDIT: All sorted out now guys - found out how to check the wiring with multimeter - Everything working beautifully now!

How is this unit to use?

I'm considering buying the SWI-PS, as I have a Sony XAVW1.

I was curious as to how hard it is to program, and if there are any issues with it forgetting settings or lagging or anything.

Also, where is the best place to get them?

This unit is amazing!!

Its remarkably simple, but you have to follow the instructions to the 'T'... (Which i found out, hence this thread) lol

The good thing about the SWIx model, is that if you change ur head unit, you can reprogram it to work with your new one as long as it had a remote control (Which headunits don't these days).

Also, with the plug in units, I think you are locked to whatever functions are assigned. However, with the SWIx unit, you can allocate your buttons to ANY function on the remote.

I bought mine on Ebay. Easy enough.
