Hi there,

I am new to these forums. I tried searching the forums to find an answer but couldnt find anything very helpful so i am posting this topic.

The cruise control on my 2000 TH MANUAL Magna no longer locks the speed at all.

The "cruise" light comes on but when I push the button down in an attempt to lock the speed nothing happens.

I tried looking for a fuse for the cruise control but it does not look as if there is one specifically in either fuse box :(

Does anyone know how these systems work? i am not very mechanically minded so a few tips on obvious things to check would be great!!

This has just randomly stopped working there has not been any work done recently.

Thanks!!!!

BTW i can't believe i havent found these forums earlier!! an incredible source of knowledge for magna owners. I heard about this from a car sticker i saw on a guys magna in adelaide!

Double check the solenoid ontop of the Throttlebody, if the vaccum hose is perished or cracked the cruise will not work, also check the vaccum lines to the little black tube unit on the middle left of the engine bay.

Does the TH have a cruise control stalk? Below the indicators, a little stalk that you can set the cruise speed?

If so - it could be a problem with the contacts within the combination switch.

Also - there should be a fuse for cruise control, check your factory manual.

i had this problem with my old car after i got a new clutch put in, my mechanic forgot to reconnect the switch on the clutch pedal dunno if it applies here though...

May also be the Cruise control ECU. It is located under the cup holders to the left.

I had to replace mine when i bought my car, as my cruise was also not working.

But check the hoses too, they may have come loose, or cracked.

Welcome to the forums! Try checking the vacuum hoses on the throttle body, or it could be a problem with the switch itself. If it was a fuse, I reckon the light wouldn't come on on the dash. But stranger things have happened.

thankyou so much guys. i will check these things asap.

i did have the clutch adjusted a while back and i'm not sure if i actually have used the cruise control since then come to think of it.

thanks again.

Switches first, there is one on the Brake pedal and one on the Clutch pedal.

There is a vacum pump on the inner guard near the washer bottle next to the engine mount, check these hoses back to the throttle body

ECU should be ok if the cruise light is coming on as should the fuse be as well

Vac line is the usual suspect in my experience. Make sure the dome ontop of the TB is not deformed and the bellow is tight (4x screws).

Mine is hard to get working at times lately, but I figure it's just age. Sometimes I have to press the button twice to get it to lock in.

Also I heard we shouldn't use Cruise when it's raining?
