Its called a Jesus clip because when you go to take it off it usually flies off the winder never to be found again.

Jam a flathead in the rubber boot around the winder (on the window side not the door card) and look for the tooth of the clip, find it, sit the screwdriver on it flat, and turn the winder - The clip will fly off somewhere if you're not careful, cup your hand around it, then just slide the winder straight off - I'm a pro at this :) I swear my door cards have been off about 15 times this year.

Also broke 2 winders and lost 4 clips! :)

Get a very small, thin flat blade screw driver.

Put it between the winder, and the rubber trim/seal thing.

You will see a clip, if you see the back of it, turn the winder 180 degree's until you see the opening.

Slip the flat blade screw driver against this clip, and press away from yourself. Have your other hand behind the winder to catch the clip.

To secure the winder again.

Place rubber seal/trim thing on the winder mechanism.

Grab the clip, slip over the winder, then ease it out onto the edges (take care as they fly off if you pushed it out too far).

Place the winder with the clip half on, push firmly against the rubber bit. Grab a small screw driver, and press on the back of the clip. You'll hear it 'click' in place.

theres an actual tool?

the best way in the universe for getting these things off is with the spokes of an ANL fuse. ultra thin forks that slide behind the winder and pop the clip off within 2 or so seconds :) also a lot less damage risk compared to a screwdriver

and an easier way to put it back on.. just put the assembly totally back together, slide the winder back onto its shaft, and give it a good hit, and it clicks straight back in
