hey guys just quick aircon question
i own a 2000 model magna and the aircon is stuck blowing the cold air at my feet and no where else. i have feeling the selector dial has just been disconnected as it only happened after i had my head unit installed.. so question is guys how hard is it to get in and hook it back up or check whats going on behind it?
pain in the ass. the dial has a solid rod that connects onto a white clip behind the dash. you need to remove the panel from under the steering wheel so you can see through into the center area, and you will be able to navigate the rod onto the clip from here

so i should be able to take the panel off under the steering wheel and reach up? doesnt sound too difficult

Could just be some of the ducting to the dash vents has come adrift ?
I guess you tried sticking your hand up under the dash to check if there was cold air escaping somewhere ?

If you take the under-dash panel off on drivers side (under steering wheel) you reach "in" (sideways) more than "up".
On the drivers side of the heater/air-con the most-obvious clip is probably the one attached to a cable going up to the dash center-vents (it selects fresh vs air-con air, using the thumb-wheel on drivers side of centre-vents).
I'm not absolutely sure where the linkage goes from the air-selector dial..... pull the panel below steering wheel and have someone twiddle the air-selector dial as you watch the heater mechanism.... look for moving buts and see if they are attached to little arms on the heater box with a clip. Its possible you might have to do the same thing looking from the passenger side (removing a panel under glovebox).
In TECH TORQUE forum, there is a STICKY thread which has links to teh factory workshop manuals, maybe a good idea to download the workshop manual on PDF files and have a look-see about fixing the heater?
EDIT: From a quick look at the Workshop Manual from the Tech Torque forum, Heater/AirCon is Chapter 55 - and while there are differences between manual vs climate-control - it looks to me like the air-selector has the linkage/rod on the PASSENGER side of heater box.
