I have a light come up on my dash that normally isn't there, it's the one with the exclamation mark in a circle that is in brackets. Kind of like this (!)

I have searched trough the repair manual but did not find a mention, does anybody know what this means?

I think that may be when the handbrake is up. I have seen that thing in my car but i cant remember exactly when it comes on...

That's the handbrake light... Take your centre console out and give the switch a bit of a fiddling with (near the base of the handbrake). Worked a charm with mine.

It might also come on if you are low on brake fluid or if there is a problem with the abs. (pulled my fuse due to a problem with abs, light stays on all the time now.)

Sounds like a brake system warning light.

Don't think its ABS, my ABS one is different, looks like a car skidding in brackets '(car)'.

It seems to come on in really cold mornings and goes away after about 15 min

I'm not quite sure what it means, mine comes on whenever you try to start the car with the immobiliser switched on. Could possibly denote an issue, warning or notification with something in the electrical system rather than mechanical.

I have several Magna handbooks around here, can't find any of them, but i'll keep looking.

Currently have an error with Javascript, so I can't edit any of my posts, so bear with me here...

Page 43 of the Mitsubishi Magna Owners Manual shows that light is the "Brake Warning Lamp". It is separate from the "Parking Brake Indication Lamp", so it's not an issue with the handbrake.

Any idea what events trigger the light?

probably brake fluid, was looking a bit low....

ANyway, how does a car loose brake fluid? And why isn't the abs light coming on?

here is an easy fix.

Pull out cluster take out bulb put cluster back light not come on again.

I actually would not recomend it but have seen it done before.

Also if its not the fluid it could be the master brake cylinder???

it some times means that you need new brake pads.As the pads wear the piston in the calipers comes out more
and at the some time more brake fluid is need

Low brake fluid is what that light is for. Brake fluid is cheap as, just top it up and the light won't come back on. Brake fluid will get used over time, so its normal.

This is dangerous, the light is there for a reason and so is the brake fluid. A small bottle of fluid is under 10 bucks.

If it's the handbrake then your car is wired up wrong, even the manual says so.

They look fairly similar, easy to get them confused considering they only ever get a quick glance.

so its dangerous and needs investigating, lol. good to see the manual clears up what the problem is.

Surprised I did not see this sooner.

In your master cyl there is a switch. If there is an issue with the Master Cyl this light will come on and may indicate a serious issue with your brakes.

I would get this checked ASAP
