OK, I have searched and at this stage found nothing.
What I'm after is how to wire a Alpine Type R 12" 1222D for a 2ohm confiquaration.
For the life of me I can't find the manual, looked on Alpine site, doesn't exist.
It looks on the sub like this;

There are also 2 short little connectors 1 black, 1 red

The Amp i'm running is a MRP-M1000 single ch Mono
Asking for advice as I don't want to get it wrong and blow the sub.
Cheers

cant be done mate
the only way to do it is either:
get a 4ohm sub (1224), get another sub similar to yours
but if you wire it up as 4ohms that amp should power it nicely
*edit* this is how to wire it up

wiring option 2 is what your after

Yeh, cause you have a dual 2 ohm Voice Coil sub, it can only either be wired at 4 ohm (running the coils in series) or at 1 ohm (running the coils in parallel).
So the question lies here - what amp do you have and is it 1 ohm stable? If so, you're in serious business!
just wire it to 4ohm, on an M1000 its plenty enough power for a type-r. go to 2ohm if you get another later down the track.

Nah, checked the specs for my amp, doesn't look like its capable of 1ohm stable.
Thanks guys for your input, saves me if i done it wrong and wasting good cash.

No Alpine currently have no 1ohm stable amps in the range - which isn't a bad thing. The sub is going to sound good running at 4ohm and as Woob said if you get a second the same, then you can run them at 2ohm for 500WRMS each.

Well I went back to pay some more off my new splits and had them double check my wiring, and when they saw what sub I was running with the amp, they said "you sure thats the sub you want to use", I said I would prefer the 1224D but I haven't powered the sub yet.
Well I was able to swap then and there my 1222D for the 1224D so know I can run the 2ohm load I originally wanted.
now just be careful you dont char grill your voice coil :P

Yeah, I made sure it's wired correctly, they gave me a good wiring guide, plus the one that came with the sub.
Fired it up, need more sound deadenerlol It's the most bass I've ever had in any of my cars.
i didnt mean wiring it up wrong, i meant that youve got 1kW on tap for a sub that cant quite handle that much, so if you push it too hard your going to smoke the sub.
as i said a 4ohm load on the amp was plenty for the sub, as much as it would use, changing to the dual 4ohm sub has just meant that you are now incapable of upgrading to 2 subs without replacing the current one as well as a new one, kinda of a stupid thing for the audio store to offer you imo.

Only want one, plus it was the one I origianally paid for.
Not after anything bone crushing, just after something that sounds nice at decent levels, I have kids, and can crank from time to time, not everytime I play something, plus need as much boot space as I can get.
Sub is more than capable.

an idea, instead of wiring the sub to the ACC try putting in a power switch in the consol. thats what i did, and i chucked a pilot light in aswell. that way i can turn it off when i'm near work or at a RBT (lol). that way you can shut it off completely when the kids are in the car.

Type R will not be happy with 1kw day in day out. They are simply not that well built. Even the 500WRMS nominal is a far cry from well build subs like a Boston G5 ( 450WRMS ) or a Oz Audio ME ( 700WRMS ). Woob and I have seen many a tool like like more of a tool with Alpine woofers. Just don't say you didn't get a warning.

haha type r + 1kw + gains up at all = funny as hell and new sub soon
seen it done plenty of times when people wanted more so just chucked a bigger amp at them

Most decks have a 'sub off' feature.
