Just wondering if it's ok to stick Dynamat over some old bits & peices of Focal deadener or will I need to remove all the old stuff?
It's not much just a few spots that were done b4 with some little scrappy bits as well.
Also I have seen some people are just sticking Dynamat across the main opening without any MDF.
Is this good or the MDF is a must?
I can't seem to find much on these questions in search only other stuff.
Cheers
Craig.

Not hard to get off at all just get some dry ice leave it on the area for a few seconds and the deadener will fall off with a putty knife... beware the dry ice will need to be handled carefully.

you use the MDF to fill in most of the big holes
then use masking tape/duct tape to hold the MDF in place, then deaden over the top
should make it nice and strong
and you can go straight over the top of your old sound deadening
dynamat sticks like **** to a blanket!

Medium-density fibreboard, you know that brown looking wood you see at bunnings in sheets
comes in all different sizes and thinkness

This is what I have been doing today! :D Its quite hard to get the mdf the right size though! arggr!
I have a question though...
I am putting the mdf over the massive service hole but the door handle/ lock metal rods are in the way. I have cut the mdf to allow these to more freely, but i dont understand how mdf'ing up the hole is going to be doing anything if I still have to keep a hole open for the metal rods...
How have you guys (who have sound deadened) done it?

You can usually get dry ice from your local gas supply place, its often a by-product and isn't expensive. A lot of larger Ice supply places will have it as well. I got mine from a BOC gasses shop a few years back, it scares me now at how easy it was for two seventeen year old kids to get 3kg of dry ice. As long as you don't try and seal it in whatever container you use to transport it you should be ok, don't touch it either. And definitely DON'T drop 4 pellets into a coke bottle filled with water and screw the lid on tight  that's how you get in serious **** and nearly fail assignments.
