Dear All,
I really need your kind help on the following matters on my 2003 3.5L Magna,
1. the steering gear and link assembly which is the pipe pushing the tires to the left and the right, the 1st problem is the oil leakage, which i had to buy some fittings to change within it which fixed the problem, the 2nd problem whith is the the space that happens within the steeringwheel after a while of using it, when you turn left and right you hear some noise/hits in the steering, it is something like it has gotten a blank spaces inside it, i bought 3 used ones so far and i get the same problem over and over again,
2. the engine and gear mounts, i bought the genuine ones from mitsu dealer in kuwait, but still you can feel some shakes in the engine and the buttom of the car when the car is not moving,
3. is there a huge performance different between a 3.5L magna and a VRX Magna???? i raced 3 times with a vrx and they beaten the crabs out of my car EASILY.
4. Sometimes my car shuts down when its on and not moving, specialy in the traffic where you need to push the gas then brake for a while, what is causing this? i cleaned the injectors twice, used the fuel cleaner as well, battery is new, the cables are new, mostly my car was 80% renewed using genuine spare parts but still the problem exists,
I am posing some pics of my ride, please note that it is a VRX Converted Car,
Thank you and Best regards,
Moe Tayyoun.

Now, first off welcome to the club, and wow tha bonnet scoop is awesome, was that moulded and does it function at all?
Now with your steering, those dead patches may be air in the fluid lines, I'm pretty sure it has to be bled like brakes. That will get rid of any air and dead steering.
Now your engine keeps shaking even though you changed the mounts and sometimes the car stalls, these maybe related. Have you changed your fuel filter and fuel pump, and what about your air filter, it's quite possible that these things are starving the motor of either fuel or air causing the shudders and stalling.
Now the VRX came with 163kw compared to the 150kw with yours.
Hope some of this helps you some.
Regards,
Greg

not to mention 4sp compared to 5sp
now for the problems, sounds like greg summed it up, however also sounds like there could be an issue with the MAF sensor.. check its plugged in properly, now it takes alot of strength to get it to clip in fully..
also is there any lights on the dash when its running rough and dies?
also.. i wanna know more about your bonnet.. can u show some more detailed pics.. use imageshack.us to upload them in good quality

Greg, Thanks for your kind reply man,
Yes it was custom built on the original, and no turbos or anything beneath it, i got an evo 8 full turbo kit ready for installation but i cant find a manual transmission in kuwait Nor the Entire Middle East, Might get one from The Great Austarlia but i need to get my current problems solved first.
I will try it with the steering thanks,
Everything was changed to new in this car, pumps, filters everything from A to Z my friend,
Thanks again Man.

hey mate, Love the bonnet scoop.
Does the car idle roughly before it dies?
Also I know that mine has turned off a couple of times when my heat gauge goes up too car (last bar before the end) and this happens during the middle of the day when stuck in traffic.
As to that I have not figured out the issue nor how to fix it but it's possible (I would imagine living in Kuwait is a bit hot so it could be possible)

with the shutting off. take it to the mistu dealer and have the base idle reset. mine did the exact same, had to left foot brake and drop back to N and keep revs up to stop stalling. bastards ripped me AU$60 for literally 2mins work plugging the MUT in and resetting it, but no trouble since.
PS. ur steering wheel is on the wrong side :P

Dear All Kind Australians,
Thank you so much for your kind replies and welcoming, much appreciated and this reflects how gentle you people are,
* I will post more clear pics of my ride soon, needs to polish it first,
*We got a couple of magna's in kuwait, but not alot of them because most of the spare parts are expensive, not mentioning that we dont have experianced mechanics in kuwait, we do most of the fixing by our self, the Mitsu Dealer is crazy in terms of prices, i would never think about puting my car in their garage but it seems that i have to :(
* My RPM jumps like a monkey before it shuts off, also when i start the car the same happens, jumps 2 times then it works.
*I did not understand the idle reset thing, could you please explain in a more simple way please sir,
*the KW difference between the Vrx and the standard 3.5L, is it a mechanical difference, or only ECU tuning?
*My car speed limit is 215KPH, is there a way to remove the limiter?
* also i forgot to mention that my gear kicks on the 2nd and the 3rd, i am thinking of changing the clutch's, any advice guys ?
Thank you,
Moe

I would say a way to remove the Limiter is to run an aftermarket ECU.
The diff in a VRX and a standard 3.5L is (Correct me if I am wrong not the best on 3rd gens) A rear muffler, and a re-map of the ECU.

Hi, I already got the Complete VRX Muffler installed on my car mate,
Re-maping my ECU is possible? or getting an aftermarket ECU is a must ?
Cheers.

If your going to put a turbo kit in there it would be necessary to put an aftermarket ECU in there. See what the other turbo people use.

Evo 8: 4 cylinder 2L 4G63T
Fagna: 6 cylinder 3.5L 6G74
You sure it fits? lol
Custom turbo manifolds I assume... if so, good stuff :) Twin turbo or single? Dunno how that little turbo would go on a 3.5L...

I think you will find that over in the GCC there magnas had 205hp/313Nm (153kw's base and luxury models) and 210hp/325Nm (157kw's Sports models)

*I did not understand the idle reset thing, could you please explain in a more simple way please sir,
exactly what mine was doing.
my understanding of it is there is a stepper motor that controls the throttle butterfly to get a good idle. as it adjusts over time it reaches the limit of its travel. at this point the ecu needs to be told to set it back to the start and the idle reset to spec. it took the mechanic at mitsu 5 minutes to do mine and it was a 3 min walk out to the car. plug in service computer, start car, select options on computer, turn screw a bit, little rev, turn off and check start up, hand over bill. DONE.
i tried searching for a way to do it at home after that but no luck.

I'm no FI Expert but you'll need some sort of aftermarket fuel controller to add to that aswell like an Apexi SAFC II
And Like lucifer said, Thats a small turbo, you'll be spooling on Idle, Uleh

Yeah unless you have a TH, (only factory mitsi ECU thats semi unlocked) they are locked and security coded and you cant crack them. With FI its more then just strapping a turbo onto it..... unlike evo's its just stroker kit + biggest turbo you can fit between the block and radiator, squirt fuel in and enjoy
