Once i get my cams, gears, ecu, Street Fighter, I was thinking about pistons. I don't know alot about them so I'm asking questions here. One thing I've realised is that stage one cams (252 degrees) won't require the engine to be opened up like stage 2's. But anyway..
Has anyone tried putting pajero pistons on a 3.5L auto tippy? (compression 10:1)
do they just go straight in or do customisations need to be made for them to fit?
and how long would it take to install these? and maybe deshroud the valves while one is at it?
what gains would be made?
and if its all good i was thinking of checking out the wreckers or mitsubishi

With all the mods you're planning on doing your engine won't be making enough power or heat to warrant the installation of pistons (i'm guessing you're refering to forged pistons?).

I was reading somewhere on here about using pajero DOHC pistons because they fit straight in. Like i said i don't know alot so I'm throwing it out here to get some info

Yep the DOHC fit straight in, with pistons however always better to go new, and you can get brand new ACL units for about 600 quid (in a couple of different sizes as well) they arent forged but you dont need them to be as you wont have PP on them.
While you got the lot ripped out putting the pistons in get the rotating mass all balanced and ARP bolts fitted to the rod ends and head studs.
That will prevent any mishaps

I barely understand the last sentence:

what sort of costs and time are we talking here?
well my initial idea was the pistons and deshrouding :P

If ya hunt around ya can get the pajero ACL pistons and rings for around $350-450 for the lot.
Part number of the piston/ring set is: 6MKRY8069

gonna get flamed for this but
RPW have them for just over $330 for just the pistons no rings, from the 6G72 engine
however the ones from the 6G74 engine are $200 and are 10.5
dunno how that works tho

and head studs.
No. Don't use head studs - if you have to remove the rear head later you'll need to lift the motor out. No fun for what should've been an in-car job.
All you're achieving by putting the pajero slugs in and deshrouding valves is a ralliart motor (less cams and valve springs). Ask ACL if they'll cast them with a flat-top for you and get your compression upto 11:1 ;)

Flat-tops will take compression to around 12:1 maybe even a bit more.
The slugs in my engine have a bowl volume of approximately 9.8cc and gives my engine over 11:1 comp, the pajero DOHC pistons have a bowl volume of around 17.5cc and achieve 10:1 comp
As for heads studs.... well what was i thinking when i used the god damn things....
