Some of you may know I bought a TL for work travel. I've tidied it up quite nicely now, but have a couple quick qestions. The drivers seat seems to "rattle" on the rails? I've tightened the seat bolts that bolt into the floor, but it appears to be coming from the actual seat rail. You can sort of rock the seat back n forth. Anyone else get this?

Also, does anyone with a standard muffler wanna swap for the Lukey job that's on mine? It's too loud for me and I bought the car for comfort and quietness.

Yep, my drivers seat does that, slides ever so slightly back and forwards when accelerating/braking, drives me mad and I don't know how to fix it

By passenger seat rattles too when on rougher roads, another thing I would like to solve if anyone knows how.

If it's someting it just does then that's fine. It's just a minor annoyance. Nothing like the door rattle when I picked the car up. That 6trim6 guy really was a complete oxygen theif I tell ya, the guy didn't even screw the door trim back on on one corner.

I don't get passenger seat rattles, but maybe try tightening the seat bolts that bolt into the floor of the car? The ones on my drivers side needed doing up a bit. Then give em a spray of Inox or something.

hotevo414: How many kms does yours have on it?

See thread below.

Washers needed under bolts that hold seat to the frame (Not frame to the floor!!!!) to take movement out.

That's my issue!! I'm gonna tackle that first chance I get, had it since I got the car and it has bugged me constantly!

I'm not quite sure what it is with the passenger seat, it looks like the back is vibrating a bit.

So, take the whole drivers seat out, then pack some washers between the seat bolts and the frame?

I had the same issue with the seat and had it fixed under warranty. Not sure if they fitted the revised guides or washers?

Take it to a dealer and as it's a known problem they should fix it for nothing?

Unlikely if it's out of warranty. A phone call on Monday probably can't hurt and see if I can find someone who knows what they're talking about. Being Mitsubishi tho, I don't hold high hopes.

Had a look under my seat, and wobbled it around and I think I can see the problem. Need to find an appropriate washer and will hopefully have it sorted! Will post a how-to if I work it out :P

The forward and back movement in the TL's driver's seat is due to the isolator bush not having enough compression.
Adding a 1mm washer to the track drive assy will compress the bush and reduce movement. Get 2 washers (part# 04060025) and place them under the bolt heads, and torque to 40Nm.
The washers are very cheap, few dollars from memory.

Mine does that too in the TR, annoys the hell out of me, I'd really like to find out what causes that.
