View Full Version : Remote dropping code
Hi All
I have one remote that keeps 'dropping' it's code. Other one works fine everytime.
I've replaced the battery twice and re-programmed the remotes several times and the faulty remote works maybe twice and then won't work again.
Is this something that can be fixed or is it time to get another one off eBay?

I ended up getting new remotes and its all better now.

Yeah, both my remotes drop out every now and then. They really do suck. Didn't have it happen with my Verada (although I did buy a new remote for it since one didn't come with the car), and my sisters TJ hasn't had it happen in the 5 days we've had it.

I had the same problem with mine, turned out the battery holder was braking off (I drop my keys all the time). I managed to re solder one and it's all good, but I stuffed the other one up. There is a thread smoewhere on how to fix it. You may not have the same problem, but it fixed mine.
If the remote has been dropped and you can fix it by following the steps... here (http://martybugs.net/magna/remote.cgi)

I stuffed mine with tissue paper lol
Bingo - thanks all.
Found one of the joints to have cracked solder and the contact was broken easily - this was obviously happening when the code 'dropped'.
Didn't even bother re-soldering, just pressed it down so there was contact and put some super glue around the join. Then put a piece of paper folded over a few times on top of the battery to make sure it was pushing down.
Have been working for days now.

Super glue fixes everything, even gets you better grip with your tyres,
once, in the same spot, ..... what ever happened to fixing things properly:rant:
