Ok just installed a new Kenwood HU today and have found a problem that doesn't make sense (to me anyway).

So the HU isn't switching off when i turn me key off, but the funny thing is its only when its on TUNER.

If i turn the key off when its on CD it turns off as it should.

Installed the unit using the Aeropro magna harness so i assume the wiring is correct.

I've never come across this before and i've installed alot of HU's.

Any ideas????

does the h/u turn off after 20 seconds once the keys removed?

That is strange. My Kenwood HU (also plugged in with Aerpro harnesses) turns off as soon as i turn off with the key, regardless of which mode it's in.

Just a suggestion, check the loom and through the Aerpro adaptors for the way the "constant 12V power" and the "switched 12V" power wires are connected.

I took a Parrot Bluetooth Kit out of a TJ Sports where it worked fine. Tried to put the Parrot kit into the "new" KJ with different HU and an in-dash changer, and I've never got it working right....... suspect the power wires are at the root of the problem (now in the "too hard, do later" basket).

Maybe something about power/earth/aerial-trigger wire keeps it "on" in Tuner Mode, but not for CD??

good thought actually, make sure that the ariel wire isnt playing funny buggers, thinking its keeping to deck on to wind the ariel down or something

Nope when in TUNER mode i sat for a couple of minutes and it was still on.

The aerial wire is a good thought, would explain why CD and TUNER modes have anything to do with it.

Maybe the aerial wire is supplying power to your H/U....

Its that, or your car's new name is Christine

hahaha doo dee doo doo

Doesn't cut power once the aerial is down though.

I didn't use the harness that actually came with the deck as i left it in the work van so another kenwood can be plugged straight in later.

A mate at autobarn gave me another kenwood harness, i hope the wiring is'nt different on the harness i got.

I figured they were all the same (if it plugs in), would i be right?

I had a couple sony decks in my old car.

Harness plugged straight in. Though - double check the wiring, sometimes the harness can plug straight in and 2 wires are swapped around.

Haven't had the chance to pull it out yet to have a look but found another weird issue.

If i turn the key off on tuner so the radio stays on, when i get out it won't let me lock the doors.

Problem now fixed.....

Apparently the blue wire on the Aeropro harness is 'amp power control' not 'antenna control'.

As i just saw blue and wired it up to the antenna control on the Kenwood harness, stupid me  ......my fault.

So i just cut the wire now all good.

Im gonna track down the antenna wire in the car and connect it to the deck so its only up when the tuner is on rather then all the time. The way it should be.

eesh, reminds me of my old car, mate wired up a new (second hand) deck and just plug and play style put it back together... the first deck was a kenwood, the second was an alpine... all the wires were wrong and he blew my unit! cost me bout 200 bucks and was without any music for a month or so...!!!:doubt:
